I had a crack at Gintama once, ages ago, but I ended up dropping it because I didn't find it to be anywhere near as good or as funny as it cas claimed to be. I'm told it gets better after a few tens of episodes, but I'm not going to sit through an entire double seasons worth of unfunniness to get to that.
On an entirely unrelated note, does it annoy anyone else when a specific shot in an anime is for some reason less bright than the rest of the show, usually a shot with magic or explosions involved., or which you would expect to be brighter rather than darker. Dunno why they do it, but I hate it because the sudden palette difference just rips me right out of the immersion.
