I must admit that, after his long hospital stay earlier in the year and the fact that no news was forthcoming, I thought that things were looking serious.
However, Prince Philip was a truly Queen Elizabeth's "strength and stay".
My sincerest condolences to Her Majesty, The Queen, and her family.
Villagers in Vanuatu are also mourning the death of Prince Philip who passed away at Windsor Castle last Friday aged 99.
For decades, two villages on Tanna Island have reportedly revered the Duke of Edinburgh as a god-like spiritual figure.

I read about the people of Tanna in The Times and also on the BBC website

They hadn't held the ceremony when the BBC item was written.
I watched the funeral on TV yesterday afternoon. It was very simple and dignified. My heart went out to the Queen sitting on her own. I'm glad the cameras didn't focus on her very often or do too many close ups of the other mourners in the chapel because that would have been far too intrusive.
