Lockdown annoyance - things that irritate/annoy you that you didn't really notice before...

We are (possibly) spending more time with people that live with you:

- How are you finding it?
- Are you finding things out about your family, friends, flatmates that you never knew?
- Are people's habits starting to annoy you?

What are some of the irritants that are affecting you?

Well only my schedule has been majority impacted by the virus and that is because I'm not sending my kid to daycare right now. It is exhausting as it is nonstop from 5:30 am all the way to 9:30 PM everyday (minus the weekends which is when I can actually do whatever I want during the 2 hour nap time instead of work). My husband is working his normal 12 hour shifts. If anything, we anticipate overtime for him as people are dropping out of the workforce due to COVID-19.

And, I was lucky to be a stay at home mom for about 2 years before I went back to work, because now I am just resorting back to that (obviously it sucked adjusting to this being the new "normal", but I am past that now). I'm also lucky I have an arsenal of recipes, cooking and baking knowledge at my disposal because I'm not really competing for food (still even have my stock of flour, though I am down to the last 5 lbs bag). Most people are going for the premade frozen food or the ready-to-eat food.

If anything the only irritating thing is the fact that my work refuses to lay me off, because they have it in their head that I will leave for another job if they do (they were not wrong 2 weeks ago, but with the 600 boost...I'd collect that for at least 6 weeks).

That being said, this sure as hell makes me a lot more appreciative of everything I didn't even know could be "taken away". Like playing at the park. Who would have thought you couldn't play at the park one day? I have a jungle gym in my back yard, thank goodness, but it was mostly going to be used as a clubhouse/treehouse that we were spending $500 every birthday on. Plus we are saving money like crazy and I am about to make a triple payment on the mortgage, while tripling our savings as well, so it isn't all bad.

Tl;dr: I am mostly just exhausted as opposed to irritated. It is just different as opposed to good or bad and maybe I needed the huge adjustment to incorporate some of my prior stay at home mom activities anyway
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

I'm self-employed and work from home anyway, so other than not going shopping so often, the lockdown has made very little difference to me.

However... I do get really, really annoyed with all the people who moan about how difficult it is to work from home. No, it really isn't, plenty of us have been doing it for many years. Stop whining.

but i live on my own. so i only speak when i go to shops. "oh no i have a bag thanks" "thank you bye" and when i speak to gf over skype or phone etc.

last time i saw my gf was a month ago now.

i use to have agoraphobia - so this is a very odd time to be like this. kind of worrying for my own well being. ive decided to no life runescape 10+ hours a day to keep my mind on getting 200m arch. so distractions!!!!

Edit: I guess I am just disappointed that more people seem to let their judgments be driven by ignorance right now. And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

I couldn't imagine working from home with my boys - I would be one of those who moan and groan - I would find it extremely hard.

The most annoying part of lockdown for me is not being able to go to the gym. I took it for granted in the past and I can't wait to get back into the swing of things. Also, the transition to online classes are a little rough...they become rather inconvenient when some people don't know how to operate technology very well :)

My work from home setup was an easy transition, and my roommates and partner are great to live with and we've really been trying to make it easy on everyone hahaha. Having 5 people living in one space can get testy, but I'm glad these are the people I'm living with.

Honestly the biggest annoyance for me has been to see people not taking this seriously.

I live on my own and the walls are starting to talk to me. I've downloaded movies and TV shows for years, but you get sick of watching Covid 19 crap 24/7... or movies or TV shows.

I haven't worked for 3 weeks and thats what I really need to change soon.

Anyway we are moving from Level 4 to Level 3, and I'm hoping I can go back to work on Level 3.

Really people whining is your biggest annoyance?

Then number one good for you. You don't have to listen.

Number two, this is hard on everyone and the least we can do for one another is let them take the piss. Maybe it's not seeing your SO for a month, maybe it's hard to work from home, maybe your kids are driving you crazy, whatever you can vent and let off steam.

And if someone says shut up it's not so bad ... just ignore them and continue reaching out. Cause some people can understand it's hard and will lend an ear.

Last night our neighbor's house burned down. Yeah it was quite the commotion. But it did cement how lucky most of us are right now. So I don't care if people want to complain about standing in line and not getting what they need, being afraid of bringing home the virus to someone vunerable, not getting to ever see their loved ones or friends, whatever.

Because this is a tough time and we should be there for each other.
