... the breathing pattern...
That, in my opinion, is actually the key to the whole swimming process. Maybe that's why combining this sport with other disciplines such as Yoga, meditation (Zen) and Tai chi, is a good idea
I haven't done yoga in forever, it's definitely a good workout plus a good stretch in itself or two!
On top of this, I even took a class a few months back to see what all I could improve on and another difficult thing I've learned about swimming is really trying to get my shoulders out of the water! It's tough but it's always so much fun trying a new challenge.
Plus, my favorite training method is and not sure if anyone else likes doing this but what I call breathing training in which I try to get down to the end of the pool (25m short ways) without coming up for air. Sometimes I can do it, sometimes I can't but if you do be careful doing that because I've almost passed out a time or two before
Nice! Although I'm not so keen on swimming underwater I do manage often to swim a long time above the surface without having to stop or touch the ground in a shallow area with my feet to rest.
200m Dunge, Rc, Mage and invention accomplished, + 120 Constitution/Slayer/Range/Summoning/Woodcutting/Mining/Defence/Strength and 110m fishing, got comp/MQC and 200m Fishing/Woodcutting/Mining as well as 120 herb/Farming/Cooking most 120s just Agility, Theiving, Hunter and Prayer left
I have wanted to take up swimming as a means of exercising, myself. I pass by the municipal pool on my way home from university, so I don't know why I don't make a time for it.
Although, I have never really put in much thought on some swimming exercise routines to really get the benefit of water workouts—since I really just like swimming around and imitating video game characters underwater (Tomb Raider 1-3, anybody?). If anyone has any cool tips on getting started, I would really appreciate it!

Maybe you could start doing an hour or something and see if you enjoy it, then do more if you like it

how many gallons of **** do you think you're swimming in?
Thanks for the free bump, such a thing for me doesn't get in the way of general fitness and training, besides swimming is very good for the whole body despite not being as intense as other exercises.
