No support for it being a separate skill this could just be an addition to cooking though a very similar practice is available with leaping fish and it gives cooking xp so this could be worked into an expansion of cooking jagex evolution of cooking please.

I think that it would be a redundant skill and add nothing of value to the game.

+0, no support & no offense.

It might be better implemented as an addition to some other skill however.

I understand that in real life there is a big difference between a cook and a butcher, but if we go down that route Runescape will end up with a ridiculous number of skills. Also consider the impact that this would have on the economy: Food supply will temporarily be cut off entirely, making food items incredibly expensive.

I do think that this would make an excellent extension to the cooking skill which is, to be honest, repetitive and lacking in real depth. Perhaps butchering meat could be used to make food more efficient i.e. restoring more health.

Whilst I do not think that this has enough originality to be made into a totally separate skill, I do think that it would massively improve the cooking skill.

But Butchers don't cook.

Sure, butcher's don't cook, but also note that fletching skill combines two completely different professions: the actual fletching AKA arrow-making and bow-making. A professional bowyer doesn't know how to fletch an arrow, and likewise an expert fletcher doesn't know how to craft a bow. Also, at high levels you can make scrimshaws via fletching, which is it's own profession in real life. Yet all these three professions are lumped together.

Another example is Smithing: an arrowsmith doesn't know how to make a sword, a bladesmith doesn't know how to create a flail and weapon smith doesn't know how to create arrows. Likewise, there are multiple professions dealing with different metal types: brownsmiths (copper), blacksmiths (iron and steel), whitesmiths (tin and pewter) and goldsmiths are all professions of their own.

Crafting is a notorious example: it combines leatherworking, shoemaking, pottery, glassblowing, silversmithing, goldsmithing, clockworking, weaving, textile spinning, gemcutting, staffcrafting, dying, stonemasonry, shipmaking and engraving. Need I say more?

My point is that while Butchery is in real life a profession of its own, in RuneScape that is unlikely to become a skill of it's own because of the lack of content resolving around Butchery. While we could have hundreds of NPCs added to Butchery skill table, it still feels rather bland skill considering all we'd do is cutting monster corpses to cookable chunks.
Not to mention we already can butcher fish in Clan Citadels, so that only enforces my view that Butchery could be lumped together with Cooking, seeing that Butchery is basically a supplementary skill for cooking and could improve Cooking notably.
