Helion Fire,
That's my point.
Most cooks have an idea where the meat they are cooking comes from and what part of the animal it is. true.
But I can say with absolute certainty, having been involved with the industry for several years, that very very few, even very experienced chefs are prepared or capable of taking a whole dead cow and turning it into the meat they prepare.

Cooking and butchering are entirely different skills and professions.
That said, if this were to be lumped into any existing skill here in the game I would have to agree with many here that cooking would be the most logical choice.
Using the dragon again as an example. I think it would be odd to kill a dragon, then use your hunting skill to turn it into several steaks, then you cooking skill to cook them.
I had envisioned that with a higher butchery level you would be able to get more steaks from a single carcass and at even higher levels get better cuts like filets, as well.

Hey Hey Hey, don't forget my suggestion on
HUNTING :P
I'd actually far rather link it up to Hunting as a means of knowing the tools for survival.
Think about it.
People such as the Inuit's (north pole) had EXCELLENT knowledge on manipulating all parts of a carcass to make the best outa it.
And they were basically, more than chefs, Pro hunters of the Ice.
Thus, I'm saying include it into Hunting + Cooking :) And rather Hunting.
Then, It'd really fit in well ^^

Like I said, you would play that card again. Then, the reason's you gave me...well, they aren't reasons.
---
1) Cooking is already one of the most, if not the most, diverse skills in the game. The amount of work it would take to implement this would be wasted (my opinion) on just adding this to an already very involved skill.
I dont think that it is diverse enough, I think there are some things that need to be improved, and there need to be more things to do with it. One's opinion (which as a reminder, opinions are not factual) is not the opinion of all people. This is not a reason, it is an opinion.
---
2)I would like to see more skills, not less. I still don't understand the reluctance to the idea of adding skills to the game rather than just making the current ones more complicated and involved than they already are.
I dont want "less" skills, but I dont want skills we dont need, as they can fit under another catagory just fine. In example, the person that keeps posting on your thread found a solution, this being that you can get the occasional meat from the animals that your killing (for special food drops), and gain these more often as your hunter goes up. Your cooking handles the other half of it, prepareing it. The reason we upgrade the current ones is too make them more fun, and because they think of stuff that they can put under the already existing skills, instead of makeing something else that skillers will spend time on getting "the 99". Still not a reason to have it.
---
3)We're up to 2.5 years now between skills and the latest seems to me to be more like a complex minigame. Yet it took so long for Jagex to create they decided to just make it a skill. Are they running out of ideas?
Are you kidding? This isn't a reason, or a legitement excuse, it's just a complaint. They aren't running out of ideas, they are backed up on them.
---
Anyways, this is the last I have to say on the matter.

Darkcide777,
Although you state your last post was the last you have to say on the matter, I don't believe you.
For that REASON I will reply.
Will you please define REASON for me?
Common definitions of REASON include:
a statement offered in explanation or justification
an explanation of the cause of some phenomenon
I Stated:
"Cooking is already one of the most, if not the most, diverse skills in the game."
"I would like to see more skills, not less."
"We're up to 2.5 years now between skills and the latest seems to me to be more like a complex minigame."
Please explain how these statements do not fall within the definition of REASON.
Are they not a statement offered in explanation or justification?
Yes, they are, and therefor they are all reasons for me making this suggestion.
I suspect you will return and continue to make statements supporting why you don't agree with the reasons I have provided.
I honestly have little interest in this as you have stated your OPINIONS quite well.

I'm interested in you defending your position that the statements I have made are not REASONS as REASON is typically defined.
You seem to be suggesting that a reason can not include opinion. Its my opinion that the reason that most folks would give for making any action or statement would be partially driven by their opinion on the subject.

I support this, but i also agree it could be part of cooking, also i have one question. What about the bones? Would you cut around the bones and get the meat, bones, and hide, all after you use a knife on a carcass? Maybe if you failed at cutting the beast properly you would end up with crushed bones usable on the ecto fountain thing.
