This would make a great addition to the game. Not intregrated as a part of cooking, but to go alongside it, like woodcutting is to firemaking. I particually like your paint/paint manufacturer metaphor
To go along with this, I reckon some much needed cooking updates would be handy. Food on RuneScape is a little boring at the moment... I fish some monkfish from the sea, and I cook it... then I eat it whole. I would love to see chopping it up into pieces, and spicing it up... a little salad, some batter, a side of chips... mmmm.
