Personally, I feel that this could be an expansion to Cooking

"In next weeks behind the scenes video we will be looking at how our new skill Butchery will effect all of gielinor, oh wait that's just cooking....(end transmission)".

Sorry but no support as this sounds too much like the cooking skill, this sounds more or less like a ninja update within a mini-game or citadel as i can't see how this can/could help with other skills.
Level 60 Mining is required to read this.

I definitely like your idea and see where you are going, but I think that rather than treating it as a new skill it would be more of an addition on to cooking, it would be available in the higher levels of cooking, and then there would be no need to think on a training system for butchering alone because you would have the cooking skill to train and when you reach a higher level you could start butchering. I also like the idea to have more advanced butchered foods act relatively like potions.

I understand you want more skills, but that doesn't seem to be the viable solution.

I'd rather keep RS simplified, and not be like other games where they have different skills, that are all basically the same thing in one.

Like being a magician and a sorcerer...really?

The cooking skill in RS is already expansive, it has a variety of different methods of cooking etc, such as cooking on a range, cooking on a spit, cooking on a fire. And you cook different types of foods and prepare them in various different ways. The butcher add-on you are talking about is very similar to cooking, as in preparing a meal, which consists of meats.

I[n] the end, you're going to cook that meat anyway, so it is all a part of the cooking skill.

Now taking a look at the recent skill, Divination, and the other skill Inventor which was supposed to come out later (which many people don't want in the game), adding even more skills that seem like add-ons doesn't seem like the viable solution.

Take a look at inventor, it is pretty much smithing, crafting, and/or fletching all in one. It is another artisan skill that combines all the previous 2/3 skills into one.

That isn't a new skill, that's just all the skills you've already learned and putting a cherry on top of it. No offense, but keeping RS skills unique and exclusive is the way to go, and any other ideas that seem cool, should first be considered to the fact if there are any other pre-existing skills where the new idea could fall into.

Some people want a ninja skill, instead of adding a completely new skill, add new unlocks for the combat stats we already have, but also give them agility requirements. There, that's the ninja skill.

Some want an enchantment skill? Add it to magic, simple.

Some want a mount skill? Add it to summoning as a bonus, it makes sense too.
This is a dying game. Everything about it is just gaining XP and levels for a stupid cape, it's not about the unlocks. The skills are broken, combat system is dull and repetitive. And the MTX...lol.

Heya Scavlord! Posted in here a long time ago! I still support the skill and am happy to see that the thread is still going. I was just thinking earlier today about how cool it would be to kill a monster and get a rare "monster carcass" as a drop.

If you had to butcher every monster it might be a bit of a chore, but if it was some kind of rare deal - something too good to pass up - then it would be a lot more fun! And have a lot of potential to be more rewarding :D

Maybe even pair it with another skill to make magic items with? You could totally get rare body parts from beasts and use them to give yourself special powers! Like the breath sack from a frost dragon to make your weapons do cold damage or something :P

Keep the dream alive!
