I like the idea, but as a seperate skill, it seems way too close to cooking. I may suggest that like in the artisan's guild when making ceremonial swords, the player might be able to butcher similar to that in the cook's guild.

Yes, that would make sense. Also, Scav, when you said for various skills we have 2 of for something, like for making bows with fletching and woodcutting, woodcutting isn't directly involved with making bows, its directly involved with cutting trees. Fletching is directly involved with making bows. As for 2 for making armour and such, smithing and mining, mining isn't directly involved with making armour and weapons. Its directly involved with mining ores. So, while certain skills are associated, they are not nessecarily directly tied. Skills can go different ways.
I would suggest this becomes part of cooking, as said earlier. Two direct skills with making food would not make sense. As well, it has too little content for it to become a skill as well. But, it could make a good addition to cooking, as well as perhaps adding an Artisan's workshop like activity to the cooking guild and have this included.
EDIT: As well, adding this would make cooking more complex than it has to be. It would make cooking meats be a bit complicated.
