Rerelease the following Treasure Hunter Promos:

Plague Doctor, Walk like a Zombie, New Year's Resolutions, Facelesss Assassins and Tribal Trials.

These events had pretty hard tasks and need a return to put a hard stop to the ridiculous prices walk tokens are at right now. 12b for a zombie walk? Absurd.

These walk tokens aren't true discontinued rares and thus wouldn't affect or even hint at a rerelease of phats.

Prior to this week's update, I might have said no; I'm typically very leery about doing anything that could cause the value of tradeable rares to crash without adequate reason. I'm normally all for reducing FOMO but considering people invest very heavily in these items I worry about the repercussions of causing those investments to tank. You typically don't want to anger players dedicated enough to accrue that type of wealth by making their investment meaningless.

But this week saw the re-release of Felix's cosmetics on the Oddments Store for a relative pittance, one of which (the Meowsketeer Rapier) was going for almost 100M before this happened. That, at least to me, seems to set a precedent that any tradeable rare is fair game for a re-release. Perhaps Jagex is saying that it's time to let go of the value of the artificial scarcity that rares have had, consequences be damned.

Either way, support, if only because of this.

This is not the first time they've re-released something deemed to be discontinued.

Rubber Turkeys were released alongside Christmas Scythes and Holly Wreathes in 2014. We have not seen a re-release of the Christmas Scythe or Holly Wreathe, which can be seen in the high prices they are now demanding, but we have seen a re-release of the Rubber Turkey in 2017, which can be seen in the very low price these are now demanding.

Jagex have set a precedent that no items released after Santa Hats have the desired discontinued status, and they had warned us on several occasions during the noughties that they will never release a new discontinued item.

So with that said, OP has my support, insofar that it's already likely to happen. Perhaps Jagex need to be more proactive with this to prevent item prices climbing too high, which will only cause a larger fallout when the re-release does come along.

Interesting, thanks. The Rubber Turkey stuff took place while I was on hiatus, so I had no idea.

Original message details are unavailable.

Yes, I think this should be an important factor going forward. I'd really like to see them update the Oddments store more frequently in general, and re-releasing these types of rares even six months after their initial release would go a long way to preventing people from getting burned since there would only be so much time for them to spike in value.

Rereleasing them would cause their prices to crash and completely destroying merchers' confidence in TH rares. Resulting in shifting their trust back on old discontinued rares like phats, skyrocketing their prices even further beyond players' reach.

As much as I'd like to see their return, I believe the potential fallout isn't worthwhile.
