Put it differently.

Why should be something, that is in high disregard for a lots of players actively engaging with RS community be rewarded at all? The forums haven't played a role for most of them for at least the past 8 years. Think about it, when the most prominent memory is a troll even after all that time. Moderation was mentioned several times. But the things, that are genuinely good only further down the road.

In the end of the day I doubt Jagex will hand out anything for a platform abandoned by themselves for a long time, but we'll see.

LOL!

The forums are NOT in "high disregard". Better things just came along, but plenty of players still used these. Even more lurked. Not all rewards are for everyone. I was under the impression that people harboring "everyone should get a trophy" logic were only a caricature in sensationalist news but I appear to have been proven wrong. My in-game title is "Graverobber". It's one of the rarest titles in the game despite being relatively easy to obtain. The rarity is because of the fact most players don't like barrows, and that barrows is outdated content. I happen to love barrows and will do it just for fun. So once again this argument falls to similar logic as before - should my title not have been added as it only appealed to a handful of players?

The troll was NOT the most prominent reminder. What REALLY happened was someone made a funny on the Reddit thread. People will always upvote / like the funny over more mature and insightful comments.

Moderation is what drove a few of the stragglers away but most of them are still lurkers. Again - it was social media and neglect.

There is a chance they'd give something. Classic capes are a thing. The forum community is in the same position the classic community was in all those years ago.

Can't be compared at all. Classic capes were given out at a time, in which they made access to classic available in irregular intervals for 7 more years - to celebrate the first opportunity to do so for basically ever since RS2 replaced it as the main game. Following your logic, the cape would have been introduced in 2018 in variations acknowledging experience milestones up to a certain point after the game was shut down - and maybe even one variation for OG veterans. Not the 'participation trophy' (did you really pull this up after that post?) you were able to earn for 7 more years just for logging in once. If the forum cape was the equivalent to that thing as it stands, everyone and their dog with a bronze badge will have it - and technically even have the chance to go for it for a long time to come if they haven't by now.

DarksCape maybe? That one was given out after shutting down that game, but with requiring 10 hours of game time, it also never really acknowledged the tryhards in there. So iron or at most silver tier I guess.

Graverobber on the other hand will be available for players to earn for as long as the game runs. Entirely up to them if they want to do it or not - but they had the chance when it was introduced, they have the chance right now and they'll have the chance in 10 years (depending on the game still running of course) - and players knew terms and conditions for all that time.

And yeah - that with the troll was really good for a chuckle and that certainly is the explanation for the top position of that post - but all the other negative experiences were not. That something positive only showed up so down below doesn't speak for it at all.

To be honest - do you want a forum milestone beyond 'being there', that couldn't just be exploited in some fashion? HLF access - albeit that one obviously also was impossible to do ever since Mod Lee departed.

a title would be interesting concept. "the forumer"

a cape i dont think id use that much as trim master comp > anything else. but a title that be nice as it wont need a keepsake key.

i dont think 1 post should be enough to unlock it, that seems a bit meh,

maybe 100 for grey title

1k for purple?

10k for another color

25k - gold

39322 posts - multi colored.
200m all RS3 on 7/3/19
1.2Billion overall Slayer xp / Ultimate slayer title

OSRS 2277/2277 Untrim slayer cape

A forum cape / title / other item with just one version may receive more support.

This will hopefully be comparitively less work to add to the game.

Multiple variants or colours of a cape / title would be cool, but may be tricky to get support for, due to:
- More work required to implement.
- Few metrics, apart from post count, available to use for tiers. Maybe 'time spent', if this is tracked, or based on number of years since first post. However, none of these give an indication of quality of posts etc.

A single version with a standard requirement to unlock (e.g. 1,000 posts) could be the best option?

Cape Ideas
- Colour: Green/brown - from the original forum design?
- Image: Selection of icons from the headers of the most used forum sections.
e.g. General, Market Place, Events, Recent Game Updates
- Particle Trail: White letters dropping off the cape - this may be too much to ask for!

The colour is a throwback to our history, whilst usage of the current icons will give it a modern touch.

Title Ideas - Possibly quicker to implement than a cape.
- Playername
the Forumer

- Similar concept to RS Wiki's the Wikian title.

The Classic cape example is in reference to it being a token of abandoned content, given to people who participated to at least some degree. The Graverobber title example is actually fine! YOU just repurposed my example. You remarked about player interest in a subject. So few enjoy forums, so why give forumers a good reward? I responded with an example of a reward from an unpopular activity. The pronounced obsolescence isn't considered.

" but all the other negative experiences were not. That something positive only showed up so down below doesn't speak for it at all"

Immensely ignorant statement. People will find negative experiences with EVERYTHING! It's why Karen memes exist. McDonald's won't take an expired Burger King coupon from 1998? Expect a review about them mailing out fake coupons. Additionally - complainers are more vocal. If someone has a bad experience with something they will very likely write a bad review and or warn others. If a person has an average or even a good experience it's unlikely they'll speak much about it unless asked / incentivized to.

Again, you worry too critically about "exploitation". Nobody is going to exploit a forum cape without being caught. Stop obsessing over one dude who everyone here knows, lol.

A forum memento would be nice, like how Darkscapers got something when it closed down.

Judging forum reception on the negative things people say about it isn't really fair. Reddit and most social media amplify negativity because drama gets more engagement. People also often remember bad experiences more readily than the good, so opinions are somewhat skewed.
