As crafting is for ranged armor that is strong against magic,
it would be fitting for a skill that made melee armor to be strong
against magic be another type of crafting, so we have metal crafting
* Magically imbued armor and weapons
* Stronger melee armor against magic
* Stronger Ranged weapons against melee armor

y mess with the combat triangle (square now i guess?) Melee is meant to be weak against magic for a reason same as y melee is strong against range y should metal armor be strong against magic? Doesn't make sense
Could be interesting as an addition to smithing, crafting, runecrafting, invention and fletching instead of a new skill. I would like an alternative to augmenting items, magically imbued would sound epic if the magic enhancement was strong enough to compete against augments. Probably would have to be separate from augmenting seeing as there's already enough item variants around. Armor with alternate weaknesses would be pretty cool too.

thats kinda how i view it. necro doesnt get extra accuracy and damage, but also doesnt gain extra defense and damage reduction.
as for the OP, ya there was a time when dragonhide was the king armor for me because it was decently strong at melee defense and resistant to magic. but the system has changed and thats no longer the way. you either follow the triangle or exist as a hybrid that doesnt get the benefits of being one or the other.

so we need a new combat skill to counteract necro then kinda like how it is in other games with light and dark both countering and being strong and weak against each other? I'd like a paladin melee class then

How about a bard class? Just screaming loud enough at someone will do (hearing) damage!
Or turn Divination into a combat skill. Countering dead energy with living energy.

I kind of thought of this where there's a mage's robe that has plate armor over it or a mage robe that has ranged armor over it but as a skill? It can just be added to smithing but at the cost of a melee level, mage level and range level.
