Would be nice if we could make use of the account mail box to message other players especially when they have online status/private off. Make it so u can't send clickable links/highlight text integrate it into the client in lobby. Jegex account is requirement to use this mail box. This may or may not reduce in game spam/make it easier to catch them.
Edit:
If you were to try to use the website mailbox in account settings it would function as normal as is, to see read or unread mail. Any mail that have to be made or are used to send to others is in
game client only
. I have checked an I'm unavailable to send links in game .com gets **** out so unless they type it out in weird letters. so you type it yourself if you're that gullible to go where they want u to. In many hack cases jegex blames the person responsible for the account and they cannot replace items.

To lesson the likelihood of scam messages~
Account must have a certain total level, account must be X number of days old
,
option to receive messages only from the friend list
,
message options that filter out links
,
can only send X message per to X person
.
Option to receive from friends list has a drop down list as follows:
Anybody
Friends and clan only
Friends only
Nobody but jegex
Send X # of messages to X person:
Option in a drop down list is only available for anybody & Friends and clan only option. When enabled player can set how my messages they can receive per person in a drop down list: 1-10 per day. Even though anybody is selected you can send as much as you want to your friends. To avoid abuse any new friends added will have a 7 day w8 till they have no mail limit. Default will automatically be set to friends only. Changing it to anybody or friends and clan will pop up with a warning.

So as a work around for people having privacy modes enabled you want to expand a system reserved function for sending important information to players to allow you to send mail to people who have specifically enabled options to be left alone?
Just checking I have understood this because it seems like something that is just waiting to be abused.
I can only support on the condition that people are on each other's friend list for it to work, and that there is a limit of the amount of messages one can have in their inbox, blocking others from sending more if the limit is reached.
Otherwise it would surely be abused for spam.

In what way would it be abused if you can't copy paste links or other texts I believe it would be easy to tell if a mod is trying to contact you than let's say your current email?? Only mods could send you links.

Sure, as long as there was a filter to where only approved players toggled on can send you mail.
Yes that would make it safer as well.
My main idea for this is so you can message someone and they can get back to you when they see it and th message remains there unlike in game chat if u log out it goes way or can't send it to them because they are not online. I also see no way for some one to abuse it or send spam unless they use an auto typer and before they even use that they would have to manually type it up first before using an auto typer or bot to send messages they would also have to have an rusecape account jegex could go further and say u can't use this feature until you have a jegex account.

Seeing how easily people already fall for these type of scams (mistaking ironman badges for mod crowns and such), don't give the scammers more ways to conduct their business. Some people are way too gullible or too misschievous to be allowed on the internet.

I literally spelled out the way it could be abused?
If you have decided to turn on the options asking to be left alone, and you give someone a method to start begging, bragging, or trash talking that bypasses all the current privacy mode options and lets them still message you this is an abusable system.
And if you think that you can prevent someone including links? Welcome to the internet, you must be new here. Every filter can be worked around and someone will always fall for scammers.
