I literally spelled out the way it could be abused?

If you have decided to turn on the options asking to be left alone, and you give someone a method to start begging, bragging, or trash talking that bypasses all the current privacy mode options and lets them still message you this is an abusable system.

And if you think that you can prevent someone including links? Welcome to the internet, you must be new here. Every filter can be worked around and someone will always fall for scammers.

I'd totally like to see you make a fake mod emblem in game and send a link in game even though lobby not new here kid . Unless the date under your character picture is fake?

Seeing how easily people already fall for these type of scams (mistaking ironman badges for mod crowns and such), don't give the scammers more ways to conduct their business. Some people are way too gullible or too misschievous to be allowed on the internet.

If people are that gullible to fall for in ironman icon as a mod icon is terrible yes. I have never heard of that scam. I don't stay up to date with scams most I've heard of are old school scams I'm surprised that people still do in rs3.

Yep you see it all time in ge. Its not clickable but a link that people still go to. Its the main reason people get scammed and hacked

To lesson the likelihood of scam messages~ Account must have a certain total level, account must be X number of days old,option to receive messages only from the friend list,message options that filter out links,can only send X message per to X person.

many accounts are hacked and used. just literally takes 1 hacked account to spam thousands then 2 of those and so on. again we see this in ge too. its not just lvl 3 throw away accounts spamming. it is also high lvl accounts that got caught, and which are now throw away to the hackers.

this still isnt perfect way to stop it being abused

Sounds like a good idea, as long as there’s an option to filter how we would receive said messages. Such as:

Friends Only
Everybody
Nobody

Assuming this would hopefully be something to potentially minimize any risks or Spam or getting hacked which is inevitable.

Not fake, just newer. Used to play RS before WoW came out, played both for a while then lost a large number of years to that addiction, during that time changed email addresses without even thinking about my old RS account only be accessible from there, got hacked and lost the old account.
Rather than cry over spilt milk made a new account and got on with my life.
