Hmm. Very nice, but just one problem.

Runescape 07 already has a music cape.

Honestly, I'm just flat-out not sure what 07's deal is, but it exists. I do think it would be really cool skill to have, though, so support.
Either get lucky or grind trying.

Support! i'd love to be able to play music with friends on runescape =P

I do have some question though,

Will the instruments need/have an equipment slot?
How will the instruments be played/used during combat and/or skilling?
Was this skill envisioned as a form of support skill such as prayer?
Strength through chaos,
Peace through balance,
Justice at the edge of a blade.

You've done an extraordinary job developing the new Music skill!
I totally support you and hope your thread gets the attention it deserves.

I do have 1 thing to add (but is just a side thought). With the introduction of Invention being an Elite skill, have you thought of this being developed as an Elite skill? In your introduction, you state the need for Construction, Smithing, and Crafting being necessary for instrument creation (lvl 80).
However, an elite version could potentially conflict with some of the ideas/quests you have already created.

The instrument will be in your inventory, since we think that having to switch to other interfaces might make it harder to use during combat.

The instrument will be played during boss encounters, to trigger the special move with the God that it's set too. During skills, it can be activated before or during the skill, you would have to play the instrument to farming locations for example, during the growing process. For most of the other skills, it can be played just before or during and in some occasions have a set time for it's activity such as thieving.

This skill was envisioned as supporting invention, but also other skills and PVM.

This idea is still in production and we will be looking at all the conflicts that could possibly happen and taylor this skill to fit. :)

This is really interesting, as a skill, and I would enjoy doing it (except for too many quests lol).

I think that the fact that OSRS has a music cape does not detract from this potential new skill because the OSRS music cape is obtained by players who have unlocked all non-holiday music tracks.

There's a lot of potential in this skill I definitely support it, but i feel it may be sort of difficult to integrate it into the game. Do you have any ideas on if and how this skill will affect the market? for example will all instruments be trade able and in different tiers or will they be untradable and only craftable by the player? Would love to see this in-game though :D .

The difficulty we are having with this skill is, like you said, how to integrate it into the game through the training mechanics. The way you train it is make it interact with other skills and it will support other skills. For example, you play music to train music but also to help your Hunter training.

The instruments cannot be bought from G.E. They must be crafted by players. However, I'm thinking about add-ons that can be added to a crafted instrument. ^_^ and the add-ons can be made in Invention

I'm not sure what to think of this. I like the idea, I LOVE the initiative you 2 are taking but it feels like Prayer 2.0 or Invention 2.0 this way. For example; playing music to help training Hunter as you stated above sounds like something Invention should be doing. Like an augmented crystal tinderbox.

I'm mostly interested in the PvM aspect of all this.
What I'd like to see in game when I think of music is some sort of aura effects or shields. Think of healing aura's that increase your HP-regen, music that reduces cooldowns of abilities by like 5% or make everyone deal 3% extra damage, or sound barriers acting as a shield? Basically making an actual support class on RuneScape. If you could somehow make it so a dedicated support player goes full-on support (so no hybrid or weapon switch; you'd need some type of robes/armor, "Music supplies" and hey, instruments ;) to be able to support your team with these aura's) and be of actual use for a team to help them survive or boost their damage output WITHOUT devaluing already existing bosses then I think you've got something really nice - also opens up new ways for future content.

For example: a 7-man team at Angel of Death.
Now you would have 1 base tanker, 1 back-up tank and 5 dpsers. A good support should be able to provide enough shields, health or damage boosts so that it's viable to replace a 5th dpser. Just more variety in PvM for those who don't like fighting that much.

If you can somehow make it so this will not be a simple side-switch for PvMers to make use of but an actual role there is more room for these spells or "songs" I guess to be quite powerful. And yes, now I think of it it does sound like a rip-off of Sona from League of Legends, and Lucio from Overwatch but oh well.

Another thing I immediately thought of when I heard "Music skill" was the ability to make music. To create music pieces with friends or solo and maybe even get a little XP for it, or to form an e-band.
