i wasn't sure which forum to out this thread in so i chose this 1.....

so as well as new skills coming in almost every year some 99 skills are turning into 120 skills like herblore for example but my question is what are peoples thoughts on when the time comes how are jagex going to tackle 120 combat skills because i can't see it all turning into 120 skils all at once thats way too much effort and comitment because they will have all 3 orginal combat skills to tackle as well as the attackable npc etc could it even make it a new rs4 in the future or something like that so what are peoples thoughts on this?

My thought is that I would like every skill in the game to go to 120. The sooner the better. I don't understand why they have this mix in max levels for different skills. I have never seen that in any other game.

that is true but I think thats to do with the fact it all started off at 99 skills and because of the amount of exstensive content that would need to be added to the game to make them all 120 skills they wouldn't be able to do it with a click of a finger which is why i reckon they are doing it gradurally.

I wouldn't support it purely for the sake of it. Dungeoneering - which is the skill, which introduced that concept in the first place - is even nowadays hardly adequate to be one, considering basically every other level is an empty one. Also invention - it makes great use of the levels above 99 - but certainly not below it. Necromancy is exactly the other way around - why is this even a 120 skill? It barely contains stuff above 99. The other four skills actually are fine for that matter.

A skill should fulfill multiple criterias before being considered for an extension

- It should mostly make use of the 99 levels already available - so that would be skills like mining, smithing and crafting.

I can recommend this table for that matter: https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/bx8l5m/max_level_of_skills_if_we_only_went_up_a_level_on/

It is five years old, but truth to be told, there hasn't happened too much for most of the skills. Farming and Herblore have gotten their extensions meanwhile, but as for filling empty levels - and even while I am sure we got a few empty levels less than back then, Jagex tends to put new things into levels having unlocks already - even if they wouldn't be needed to be restricted by something like a tier.

- The things it features should be roughly adequate to the levels (so at least some dungeoneering-esque system, preferably the smithing one) - this is still an issue for most of the artisan skills out there - obviously mining and smithing were entirely fixed, woodcutting received its revamp - but other than that it's more punctual - like dragonleather with the vorkath release - which led to hard leather items having higher requirements than green dragonleather by now.

- And last, but not least: The extension should fulfill some purpose - of course you could make smithing into a 120 skill - but for what exactly? You can't introduce equipment after all.

Construction could be an extremely good candidate for that. Summoning was mentioned in the past, Hunter likewise. But obviously nothing ever happened. But other than that I do think most skills should be cleaned up first - a lot of them certainly are rich in features, just so extremely poorly distributed over all those 99 levels.
