This is not a big thing, but I think it could be nice, if when you ask how many you have to go, it also tells you what the initial number for the task was so you have some idea of how much time spent to how much time left. Then when told how many were left it would be more significant. And you wouldn't feel like your task didn't have a beginning as well as an end and not only had the latter.

When you ask how many left, how does that mean anything to you when not contrasted with how many you have already gone through? There wouldn't be anything wrong with asking out of how many you have left. If I'm being honest, I wouldn't care enough about it to write it down, but to be fair, there are many things you wouldn't do that the game does for you if it didn't. So I don't believe this is a useless idea.

If you had to write it down for every task, that would be a lot of writing, when you play a game, you should not have to do any writing. So therefor, because you wouldn't write it down, does not mean it wouldn't be an appreciated feature. For example, you never used to have the calculating experience feature, which I would never have done, that would be too much work to keep up with; however, this is a useful feature. So to say something is not needed because you wouldn't do it on your own, is not a fair statement.
The object of a game is to keep people's interest, and often times that is doing things for them that they wouldn't do on their own. As an update it would be a one time thing where it's always done for you; on your own it is a lot to keep up with, so as a feature, it would be appreciated and used.

Dude, there a notepad in the game itself. It's perfect for writing stuff like that down. Just a single number of a fes digits would do, and change it when there's a new task.

Also, there are plenty of games, including RuneScape, where it's easier to write something important down than remembering it.
