Wonder what Oddment prices will be for old Beach tokens..

Anyone know if any promos give extra Oddments? :p
Ouch, RIP my bank.

Why did Jagex hint they might not bring the old ones back if... just back again in the same store? Kind of lame.

Is the Oddments store the same shop as before, where you buy actual tokens, or is it an unlock feature?

Hopefully the latter. :0

the oddment store is to unlock only, im not sure if they will be tradable but assuming how the other items work i think it will be unlocked after purchase. if not ppl would be able to buy like thousands of them with oddments. trusting certain pc lists or prices of items or websites that dont belong to jagex will get you into trouble notice: external websites and trades are your responsibility, dont get fooled!.

Yea, if you can buy the actual tokens, then the ones I own lose their value. But if just unlocks, then maybe I'll preserve some value.

I maybe should have stuck with traditional rares. The new game seems to discourage saving and long-term play, which is somewhat understandable.

The old rs would have players put in huge amounts of time, struggling to buy discontinued items early, before they went up. The new rs seems to want players to just enjoy the game, enjoy all the content, etc. But the new rs loses some of the merching aspect of the old. Oh well.

For those who don't know, this game used to require far more time, though there's a great deal more content now. In many ways, the new game is better. But to lose more of the old merching aspect is a real loss.

I'm not really getting what you're trying to say, rares are still an end game goal for just as many people now as they were back in the day. Rares have even become much more of a grind to get than they were just 2-3 years ago.

Tokens have always been a grey zone, they've never been discontinued and therefore never had the same prestige as rares. Seemingly the only people buying tokens are merchers hoping they can convince players that tokens are in short supply and will skyrocket soon.

3 years ago it was a grind to get max with no player owned farm and alot of other stuff that is now easier to obtain.

i like it but i also dislike it.

now leveling or getting cash is alot easier because all items went up in price and getting high tier drops is easy now. a friend of mine got a blood dye and bought an ecb with perks. personally i did ed2 for log and now ive repair patches for life for my tier92 elite tectonic.

at telos you can farm your own divine charges.

at vindicta you can get as components.

its good because it attracts new players. but bad because older players had to put in more effort.

I am happy they dont do super nova and smouldering lamps that much anymore that was really broken.

Profz,

Merchants buy rares. Merchants buy tokens.

I'm saying, it takes the fun out of the game if tokens are junked and also if new rares aren't released. There's, then, nothing to merch.

The reason to believe beach tokens were gone is last year one of the NPC said, "you might not see these again." And yet, here they are again. That was the first token event since I returned to the game. Jagex seems to offer different token events as special events which won't return, and then brings them back.

We do, indeed, see tokens that don't return. Increasingly, every token is more available, and there's a lack of scarcity. This reduces an incentive to buy them, removes any special value to them.

It would be fun to have something new that is discontinued. If not tokens, then new rares, to keep the game interesting and alive.

A million tokens, none scarce, none discontinued, all available whenever. That's boring.

Older players might forget, but it used to be a fun thing to have discontinued rares.

You'd work hard, save up, buy a phat, buy a set of phats, and you knew the value would appreciate. You had a piece of RS real estate, an NFT. This is what makes RS3 more durable than OSRS. No matter how good OSRS gets, it will seemingly never have rares. There's no real estate in OSRS, nothing enduring to strive for.

When you're done playing, when you take a break from the game, only rares hold their value. Everything else approaches zero. You complete everything, and then... 100 more hours are added, 200 more, 300, to reach where you were. With each year, new content to keep up with. Only rares escape from that cycle.

Newer players are no longer a part of that. New players have tokens, which are apparently junked. You talk to a new player, often he has no interest in rares, no understanding of them, no appreciation. That's not how this game used to be.

And there are ways to release rares such that hoarding would be hindered.

But I didn't say, "oh, my tokens must be preserved." I just said there ought to be something that's scarce, something to keep the game interesting. Clearly I was wrong to move from rares to tokens, but I'm not wrong to point out the change. I think Jagex should have continued with releasing discontinued items; it should have continued with what kept this game alive.
