People saying that the game will die out is what is wrong with this game-

Exactly.

Ppl have been saying this for how long now and yet rs is still trucking along.

So i fail to see how this will finally be the update to end all updates.

If i got 1gp for every time someone said this, id have enough to buy a phat.

1% ge tax is good for inflation if they want to keep releasing bosses that spam out alchables to make pvm profitable. Now their plans for the rares that they are keeping hidden is kinda spooky.
I dont think they are going to release them again out of thin air but they might release rares from banned accounts (there are a lot of them in those accounts, and probably enough supply to keep the demand going for a while). If they do so they will probably release them in small amounts, after they got an idea how many are traded through the ge once the update hits.
Other possibility is they adding new discontinued items with same rarity as phats for example that could compete. Simplest idea would be black, orange, grey phats so on so on, a lot of colors to go through. Or other desirable cosmetics all together.
If you bought your rares because they have sentimental value or whatever keep them. If they are merely investments i'd say better safe than sorry.
That's just my opinion, i'm keeping my shit rares and edibles because they are already cheap as hell so no point in selling. But my phats are gonna go idc if it backfires, got no attachements to them

Great, sell them. So... what are you doing with that gp then? There is nothing to spend it. No end goal to strive for. Having GP for the sake of having GP is boring imo.

And those who say rerelease... lol. A lot of people will leave, a lot of people will stay... but envy will remain constant in your heart. Nothing will take the salty away.

I dont think jagex can ever make items competitive like partyhats anymore. The most successful is dyes and that actually is pretty successful as adding a cool cosmetic, but you can look to other cosmetics jagex has released with extreme rarity like 2nd age armour and you can see how pathetic it is. I mean I would say there is less 2nd age in the game than blue partyhats, but it is worthless. I doubt jagex is going to make more dyes until they fix how items work so they dont need to create 100 versions of every item.
Mass contributor to deaths coffers.

Absolutely nothing, point of phats for me is purely investment, i'd rather have liquidity atm while the prospects aren't good. Maybe when i see them as an investment opportunity i'll buy them. For now i rather not risk it that's all.
I don't need to buy a phat to show off my wealth to a bunch of people i don't even know. Money is so easy to make anyways. All you need is free time and patience.
Besides why do people think a phat is prestigious? Seen a lot of people swiping card for their hats.
Sadly the only prestigious thing in this game is like pvm achievements and even those people can pay people to get them for them so who cares :\

I'm happy the Max Cash pile is going up. Thats very much needed. Will make for some interesting deals I'm sure.

As for the 1% tax I'm not sure I like it. Why bring in something like that now after all these years. Just because Old School have it does not mean RS3 should have it.

I'd rather not have the tax. :P

I'd expect multi-step items like Elder Rune Bars/Masterwork/Elder Rune Platebody+5 to rise. My santa hat funds would go on these. I would just sell these on the DXP after the tax is introduced, then buy my santa hats back. There is no big risk.

I understand you have the fear of them re-releasing iconic rares because you kinda fell for a similar trap before, but I am 100% sure that they never will re-release the classic rares - Let's not forget that they attempted to do this with bank-bidding, but it backfired hard and they had to cancel that

The community still speaks big volume, and as far as I know, no one want's to see classic rares re-released - I don't mind recolours AS long as they stay rare too (as the golden partyhat)

I think rares are the reason a lot of people play RS3, it gives them goals and a reason to play. What will you do once you obtain all BIS gear? Rares are important and keep the game going. Do PVM > Get BIS gear -> Get rares (Never ending cycle)

@Benjamin RS

RWT will always exist in the game, look at OSRS, they don't have rares there, but RWT is still worse than on RS3. Your logic is extremely dumb and would kill the game in a week.

New players don't care about rares, the important part is the gameplay for them, people first look at rares when they reach end-game and max, no one starts playing the game and is like "OH let's get some rares!!!"

You're doing something wrong if you have been playing for so long without being able to get a Red Phat back. Most bosses are like 50m/100m HR on RS3 now
