The pinning of this thread was passed along to Jagex.

Good thread with plenty of help and advice on manipulation. ;)
Oh *if* it does, guess I should make a new thread which is clean of all other posts? o:

Thank you for passing it on though.

- Look for reports done by established FC ranks.

- Look for reports verified by both parties involved with the transactions.

Neither of these will help you protect yourself from price manipulation. The only reason trading-related friends chats exist is to influence prices through selective reports, price fixing, pumps and dumps, etc. Additionally there have been numerous confirmed instances of "both parties" reporting fake trades for the purpose of steering prices one way or another. These friends chats exist to make money for the participants and everyone who's ever traded rares knows what the deal is. Advising people to check the trade window and explaining what spirit shards are is, in ID, a little bit funny.

Everyone knows you should always be careful when trading items outside of the grand exchange, and you do it at your own risk. Overall this post is a collection of a few vaguely obvious statements, I see no reason for this to exist and be stickied other than OP trying to have a stickied thread in every possible forum section.

People will always shout manip at each other because those "established FCs" are each trying to pull in their own direction, and nothing is going to change that. People will always try to call others scammers not because they feel they got scammed, but because someone else got in the way of their profit. And again, nothing is going to change that. If you think having this notice will cut down on the amount of arguments and accusations in price check threads, you're mistaken.

Useless thread 0/10

The purpose of this thread is to warn potential new buyers/sellers, intending to enter the "above max cash" discontinued rares market, on what to look out for in terms of price manipulation. For example, things such as hiding behind the "Anonymous" excuse for 4 months straight, not posting a screenshot and/or name of the other party, no trades ever confirmed by the other party, prices varying from the current market prices by 1-2b, etc.

As for the established FCs, there is only one that has dealt with above max cash trades for several years (i.e. since 2011, name starts with R). The FC that was established this year by a known price manipulator (name starts with P), is in no way considered an established FC in this context.

As for the established FC i'm talking about, they had a database that included all lurers, scammers and price manipulators, so all reports that involved said players, were automatically ignored, when determining the weighted averages of the Black Santa Hat + Partyhats, based on the past 10 confirmed trades. After all, a scammer/price manipulator will always be a scammer/price manipulator. It was a lot safer to assume this, than risk these players re-offending.

Arguments and accusations will never go down, regardless if this thread existed or not, because the problem here is Jagex . They have shown that they don't care at all about price manipulation on here (at least since Mod Balance left Jagex, because he had no problem naming and shaming price manipulators on these forums), because the Price Manip Reporting thread was closed with the excuse that it's getting too difficult for them to police price manipulation on here. I mean, it'd be simple if they just coordinated with the Jagex ICU team, who is responsible for investigating suspected cheating practices (such as RWT, scamming, etc), and issuing appropriate punishments to accounts deemed to have been cheating.
