Now more than ever, there needs to be clarity around Discontinued items. The Discontinued item Wiki page
https://runescape.wiki/w/Discontinued_rare_items
has been stripped down to nothing except RS Classic rares and the Golden Partyhat due to policy changes on what they, the Wiki, are "Defining Discontinued" as. Personally I, and I'm sure many others, feel that many of the items that were removed from these poor policy decisions did not deserve to be removed since they are sort of a "Grandfathered in" Discontinued items, notably, the
Black Santa Hat, Christmas Scythe, Holly Wreath, Fish masks
, as well as others.
I call on Jagex to step in, and finally address the issue of Discontinued (tradeable) item clarity, and polish the Discontinued item status of certain items(or else rerelease them, but you will lose a lot of players IMO). There should be no way items like the ones mentioned above get rereleased purely based on their age alone, but also considering the time, effort, and cost players have sunk into obtaining these items in the present day.
Make a statement , confirm what you can at the very least. Even if the statement is "After 10 years of an items Initial release, we will confirm its discontinued status", which would be fair considering 10 years is almost half of Runescapes entire existence.
For reference, this is what the Discontinued item Wiki page looked like a few days ago before the Wiki team implemented their policy change around Defining Discontinued items, and are the items in question: https://runescape.wiki/w/Discontinued_rare_items?oldid=35968573
I hope that Jagex will finally give us the clarity we deserve, and stop predatory actions by calling items "Rare" when they are not in fact rare(Seriously Jagex, the Green Santa Outfit pieces were called rare, and they're not even remotely rare). Players used to called items "Rare/Rares" meaning they were discontinued, and now Jagex uses the term rare as if items are common. Owner of
