The current situation now in the rares marked, is that many are shorting the marked. You can just see the bond marked, its close to 30m pr bond, this without any noticeable promotions or 1 year deal membership. Due to this, you can be burned if you are making the wrong investment decision.

But whats obvious, its that Runescape has a huge playerbase that have high stats and are very rich. Its very easy to earn values/wealth in game. Especially the amount of bossing has led to huge wealth gains for a numerous of players. This has lead to cost increase of other items (high end wepons, high end armour, rares, tokens, etc...).

There are alot of smaller games that have more ingame items and wealth that has a high real world worth value. Runescape has a huge playerbase compared to the rest of the gamer marked, and many of the Runescapes playerbase are in teens or older. Its obvious that some ingame items would have a high value, not just ingame. I can also understand that some will even sell off partyhats for real life wealth, due to worldwide situation (economy and workmarked).

You didn't read the first post did you..

If you see the heading of this thread, its also says prices. To discuss prices properly, you really need to mention the reason for the prices.

I am only comparing Partyhats prices and rarity in this thread, nothing about how rares are expensive or cheap. -sorry if the title was a bit misleading-

Can't see people wanting a fish mask let alone struggling to get one.
In my opinion they are very ugly and unlikely to ever be a status symbol :P

Crown of seasons maybe, but there are so many other pretty/collectible headwear in the 1m-2000m, don't see why one particular one would be in more demand than the others.
It was a joke really. I dunno what people will aim for. Jagex has released so many tokens and rarish items; it's tough to say.

But imagine, 20 years from now, will fish masks be easily obtainable? Perhaps, yes.

Interesting comment.

I often wonder if Runescape will be around x number of years from now.

20 years, who knows. It would have to be a drastically different game if it is expected to continue being competitive in the mmorpg world and making enough money to run a company.

Not sure how profitable the current model is with MTX, but the player base certainly isn't what it was in 2000-2010.

Rs2 (or 3 i have lost count) has increased its player base during the past 1-2 years that i am reasonably sure of. The bottom was very low but its now almost double what it was at the bottom judging by players online. Maybe that also did play a role in the rise of rares over the past 1-2 years.
If rs2/3 will last another 20 years then i think eventually rs2/3 will pass old school again simply because jagex will be able to keep it more up to date.
If jagex doesnt touch partyhats then they will keep increasing in value. Maybe at one point they will reach some sort virtual antique status.
Just imagine,a rare item that is potentially 30-40 years old or even older (if the game lasts another 20+ years and why wouldnt it) from a game that is still running and attracting players.

beauty is not subjective

blue and white clearly best colors

red is ok but not as good as blue and white

all the others are pretty trash comparatively

green is being held rn because its "rare" but i doubt many people have them that dont intend on reselling at some point.

The fact purple is more expensive despite being most common says a lot.

I think its different for everyone what he/she likes the most. for me yellow, green, blue are the best , then white after. red and purple just seems ugly to me.

If you have not seen this YouTube video about the history of Partyhats it’s definitely worth the watch!

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=acKvztQu8Zg

My opinion is the rarity stated in this video plus modern fashionscape trends influence the popularity of each hat these days.

Blue is new rarest and looks good so it’s the most expensive. White is moderately rare but looks amazing with most fashionscape so is second most expensive, same reason why red is 3rd.
Green is quite rare but is ugly and doesn’t suit many outfits at all,, purple has the history of being the rarest before dupe plus looks great with a black themed fashionscape which is popular these days so it’s slowly rising towards 4th. Yellow also isn’t the most rarest and isn’t the best colour for fashionscape, but to me resembles a crown more and suits default clothing rather than any gear.

That’s just my opinion which I feel is quite accurate.
