Given that you had to go to reddit to find out, that's pretty sad indeed. I'm sure people will still merch it just like they did with tokens though.

I somewhat agree. But then again, this is recoloring of an already existing discontinued so the obvious thing is that it's a discontinued.
In probably all other cases I would blame people for buying stuff without doing the necessary research, but this time I don't think so. This is really bad on Jagex. Rank #56 Overall. 8000/1****? Hard caskets stacked. 7000/8****? Elite caskets stacked.

Yea it is reasonable to assume, a recolor of an existing rare/discontinued item, would be discontinued. I do not like Jagex's decision on not confirming its status on RS website and I also feel it should be discontinued.

Such a weird move by Jagex

Can't they see how useless the tokens are unless they are discontinued? some won't even sell for 100k - Same fate will the Green Santa follow

The Green Santa won't be more than 25-100m once this event is over, and it will keep returning whenever they feel like it

it's also a recolour of an already old rare

I don't see a point in doing this event, and I think many feel the same way

I literally tried selling some of the Christmas tokens for 1 gp and they did not sell lmao. Maybe Jagex will realize they made a mistake and will decide to make it discontinued. Then the crazy people who bought, will be lucky :P . They are stupid rare...some guy spent $500 on keys and did not even get a gold present, let alone a GSH.

yeah this feels like a cash grab to me, the gold presents are comically rare (even the purple are ridiculous, takes many thousands of wrapping paper just to see 1 unless you get lucky). Dangle a re-colored rare as bait and don't put it's lack of discontinuation anywhere except in a reddit reply..... yikes jagex, just yikes

It's definitely not "that" rare, first hour w2 GE was filled with people selling them

His RNG was just bad I'd say

Also, you can create like 2 gifts every hour, and paper wraps are time based, so on avrg you get 15-25+ or so every 3 minutes

It's definitely going to be very common
