Rare prices have nothing to do with new players or anything. its due to the duel arena. nothing else. and it didn't help with the supposed dupe. theres no ''Influx in GP's'' that warrent a major infux of prices like this. its all Artificiel prices due to larger and larger ''Stake values'' they just need to remove the duel(Gambling) option from the RWT arena. Thank you, exactly this...

When a white partyhat is 50b+ theres no reason for a PvMer to sell it. What is a PvMer with max gear and white partyhat going to do with 50b gp? Besides upgrade it to a blue? Nothing. They will just keep the white.

The only people that are pushing these prices up are stakers . People need to stop blaming merchants. Merchants do manipulate on the forums and facilitate the rise but at the end of the day it's stakers way overpaying for partyhats just to do large stakes or to store wealth that is keeping prices high. A staker that made 50b in an hour doesn't care about paying 30b for a yellow if they hardly worked for it. The 50b hardly means anything to them. And everyone else that buys is just looking for a quick flip or short term investment because of this.

I don't see this getting fixed any time soon, unfortunately. I dont think Jagex actually cares enough and a lot of the community will still say "this only affects the .1% of players". But i think far more than .1% have a goal of obtaining a partyhat. Except now people are abandoning that goal when the only way to keep up is to invest everything in rares or stake and become part of the problem.

Tons of new players from Steam. When it hits mobile they are gonna go nuts.

Higher Prices

Same thing is happening in my hometown. Very little housing > Tons of new people moving in > Apartment prices have when from $400 a month to $1200 a month.

Best,

Hero
Except the massive rare bubble began months before steam release, before anyone even knew about a steam release in fact. This rise has nothing to do with steam release.

Exactly, it has literally nothing to do with new players.
The action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired.

I thought people would start cashing out when rares reached such unprecedented price levels causing an influx of supply, but I was wrong, most probably think rares will rise forever. Accumulation of wealth at one pole is at the same time accumulation of misery, agony of toil, slavery, ignorance, brutality, mental degradation, at the opposite pole - Karl Marx. Capitalism needs to be reformed around the world especially in the US.

there's probably .001% of the players who dont already own a phat that have that goal, the other % is people who already own one.

phats are techincally worthless and other rares are heading towards that. in the end they won't ever really hold any actual value to them they'll just be a status shower of who owns a item that got hoarded and bought out (and has a invisible price of whatever people want to price them at). the only way they'll hold any value to them is if jagex takes any action and does something either against all of these people / or does something for them.

In this thread:

Massive rare price increases occur after duping/massive gold influx.

People blame a decades old system (duel arena) for the rare price increase.

Not doubting that rares are used as currency due to inflation, as they have been for a long time.

they haven't been used a currency for a long time. More like within this year. Shards have been the norm. But when the idea of 1tril stakes is normal they have to get more and more. And the currency isn't gps anymore or items that can be trade directly to gp. Last I checked the so called dupe from the videos and pictures it was 90% items(rares) being duped. And secondly the influx didn't happen over night like a dupe would suggest and I'm quite sure jagex have deleted 90% if not more of those said items and gold. It is and will always be the influx in stakers and the need for high value stakes.

Why wouldn’t they rise forever? Discontinued irl items like old comics and cards seem like they constantly rise. Even if the items themselves aren’t actually going up in value, they will still go up to keep up with inflation

Hello. Sorry if this is completely unrelated, I'm very much new to the rares conversation, and I must ask: why is third age so cheap? Is it expected to rise? Owning a melee set has been my dream ever since I was a kid, today I decided to check the price thinking it'd be like 2B for the set and it turns out I can afford it... I know this doesn't fit here because third age is not a discounted item, but still thought I'd ask. Please remove if unallowed
