it's all about the rate of supply vs. rate of demand...
if there's close to 100 2nd age armor pieces per type (e.g. 2nd age mage top) over past 3 years, then that's around 30 pieces coming in per year, or 2 to 3 pieces per month
to keep prices stable, there needs to be 2 to 3 new buyers for the new supply per month
if not, prices fall in equilibrium
if higher, prices go up in equilibrium
occasionally, a few ambitious merchants try to buy up the existing ones in circulation and active supply runs dry for a few weeks or even several months; but the new supply will keep eating at the buy walls...
If you are willing to chuck your most precious possessions like phats because someone said words like crashing/dying/quitting and then find yourself unable to rebuy for what you sold for, then you don't deserve to own a phat.
