I thought it might be quite interesting to post ideas of things currently in game that might play a part in Necromancy i.e. existing items, characters etc.

I'll start- Necromantic Focus from Archaeology
Proud leader of Clan Cadarn

you just lost the game ;)

I imagine we'll revive the dead soldiers around Senntisten first. There'll probably be an underground world to explore, similar to Daemonheim, accessed via the asylum? That big portal near the demon lords will probably open up, or we'll be able to pass through it.

I'm thinking release of the skill will be around Halloween, could even be 29th October (since it's the 29th skill) and it'd make sense thematically. I hope it comes sooner though...

My guess is that Malignus Mortifer will become necromancy tutor and cape seller.

He'll need a substantial rework and justification for holding such a cape. Mahjarrat like Zemouregal and the Necrolords of Daemonheim have a greater claim to it than he does. He frequently fouls up his undead summons by creating mushrooms instead. (Would be useful for farming if we could harvest said failed casts though, lol.)

It'd be interesting if the Amulet of Ghostspeak is used in some capacity. It'd be great to communicate with the undead spirits we raise.

Xil'gar Trog's Soul, from a mystery at Kharid-et digsite. In addition to having no current purpose, the wiki even stating it is "heavily implied it will be useful in the future," there's numerous citations in the game stating that having a demon bound to you by contract will aid in Necromancy.

The first mention of such dates back to a text from Melzar (Before he went mad) in 2007; also of note, this was the first time the Stone of Jas was mentioned. Even the recent Succession quest has texts depicting the use of demon souls to empower oneself through the use of Necromancy.

Interacting with the soul, we are prompted with a dialogue that states: "This will suffice for now. In time, I shall be ready to rejoin the world. I hope that when I am ready, I will have your trust...or at least we will have an ironclad contract to assuage your concerns."

Xil'gar Trog not only believes himself to be irrefutably indebted to our character, but has openly stated that he is willing to enter our service without recompense in the future, "until such time that my services are no longer required."

Honestly, at this point, if the soul *isn't* used for Necromancy, then I cannot fathom when in the world it will be used.

Runes most likely, as we can see lots of new symbols from the reveal trailer. Most players are obviously anticipating all kinds of runes (and bones/ashes) too being used in the new skill, hence we see they are all shooting up in the GE since the announcement.

During the Succession quest, we're told Necromancy uses energy from the soul and not runes, however. Not to sound rude, but folks who believe runes will be a core part of Necromancy are probably spacebar spamming through content.

Of course, that doesn't mean that *absolutely nothing* in the skill will require runes. There could be some small aspect that needs them at some point, but not to the point that the prices should be rising.

Bones on the other hand, have a large probability of being useful, but I doubt they will also be at the very core of the skill. That being said, the coming Forts update in February includes a Chapel and I struggle to think that Bones *won't* play some part there.

We can create runes from energies too, or we can perhaps transmute old runes into new ones. Remember we have Smoke, Shadow, Blood and Ice spells but these are not the only ancient elements. From City of Senntisten we have learned of the 5th element and an ancient protection spell that Azzanadra said even Zaros didn't know.

There are a lot of things in the 1st Age we don't know yet, perhaps that why we need Necromancy to communicate with the pre-historic ancestors.
