Them not rereleasing green santa and instead bringing in a dye is an interesting choice. At least we got a quest at all to end the year although violet is blue 3 would have been a nice bonus but it didn't happen.

As for the quest in December, I think it will be fine but in general The Daughter of Chaos quest line is just too short to show anything exciting. I didn't expect a very exciting series 5 months ago when they revealed the roadmap anyway. I know all along the big update, especially on the stories front is their new skill next year. We should know that in a month or two.
I think the conclusion to the storyline for Legacy of Zammorak on Monday will also pave the way for the new skill that is being released next year. Just like the conclusion to the EGW was the stepping stone to Legacy of Zammorak. I do Agree that it is too short of an story arch and should have been extended a bit more.
The Succession quest is actually a lot of fun and serves its purpose as the conclusion of not just the Legacy of Zamorak, but also put a full stop to the GWD1 era.
We knew years ago since the Mighty Fall the Bandosians have become irrelevant when the World Guardian took home the championship trophy and the Chosen Commander would eventually be killed either by the World Guardian or die naturally. That settled the scores between the peace loving Avansies and the failed Bandosians. We then learned from the fall of Zamorak Nex has left Gielinor with Azzanadra. Hence the only GWD1 beef left was only between Zilyana and Kril.
Now that Kril is banished and Zilyana is being pushed aside by Adrasteia, Saradomin's chosen heir. The whole legacy GWD1 saga has come to an end conclusively.

It is kind of interesting that the conflict inside of the GWD1 is now over with. Though I am happy that Jagex is in a way "ending" past conflicts and opening the game up to potential new threat/ Stories, I do wonder what that will look like going forward. I know that most content in the game is suppose to be an one off event. Hence players defeating kerapac in the EGW was just one time. Did that apply to the Gwd1 as well?
---------------
Judging from the " Clues" Released about the content coming in 2023 ( on the home page) one of the cards looks like it has an city in it. Perhaps the long awaited Gnome city will come to life.
Though that is an subject for an another thread.
Time to follow an trail of Treasure.
