Thank you, to each of you for your responses, and some very good points - though many of my ideas are available in instances such as War's Forge, for example. It seems, that construction really has become a 'one-off' as a skill on the whole. I'm more interested in the functionality of the skill for that reason, honestly, who here uses their PoH for anything beyond the altar and building/rebuilding the pawnbroker?

Graphical updates are fine and all.
But there's a counterpoint to your counterpoint on "useless" ... if you do something to make the rework relevant, you either run the risk of making something else irrelevant/useless, or whatever feature they add becomes obsolete within a year anyways.

- Portal Rooms were once great. The the Lodestone Network was created. They layered on top of that other teleport networks (Tirawan Quiver for a lot of hotspots, Drakan's Medallion for areas in Morytania) or they updated the other networks (Magic Carpet Network got a UI update, Balloon Network has 'charges' instead of needing specific logs). Menaphos Journal, The Arc Journal, both provide access to those areas.
Even trying to borrow what OSRS does, you have to portable fairy rings and spirit tree network access from Invention devices.

- The Menagerie stored all your pets. Then the pets interface came. Now it only stores "some" of your pets, and ones that didn't go into the interface.

- Things that "show off" were neat back in '06, but mostly irrelevant now. Skill Hall and Quest Hall? pfft.

- Others were clearly added as "filler" ... Games Room, Gardens, Dungeons, as they don't serve much of a practical function.

The Workshop and Costume Rooms are the 2 most valuable rooms you can have.
The Altar is "useful" for prayer training.
You "need" 2 bedrooms, only because you need the 2nd for your butler. Even then, nothing says it has to be decked out.
Any room with a bookcase is all you need for storing there. (Study? Parlor on the cheap?)
Aquarium if you're going to be serious about fishing.
Maybe the Study if you plan to make your own teletabs or do the statue of Dhamorac.

but after that?

With the number of buffs, and features already scattered around the game, good luck with devs sneaking in yet another OP feature.
And "practical" will depend on the player.

I'd almost expect Jagex to either poll what room they add ... or have to do some in depth analytics to find something they don't already have in game.

If you're looking for a PoH room suggestion, the only thing that comes to mind is an Herbalist Room/Shop.

Hot spot #1 - Potion Storage
Store certain amounts of any or "oddball" potions that players might not normally want/think to use.
Different tiers would store different amounts of potions.
Example:
Tier 1 could store 3 types of potions and 10 of each.
Tier 3 could store 10 types of potions and 200 of each.

Hot Spot #2 - Herblore Secondary Generator #1
This hot spot would have 2-4 secondaries you could generate.

Hot Spot #3 - Herblore Secondary Generator #2
This hot spot would have a different set of 2-4 secondaries you could generate.
ie: Hot spot 1 could do Limp Root, Berries, or Red Spider Eggs while Hot Spot 2 can do Snape Grass, Cave Nightshade, and Mort Myre Fungus or Caviar

Hot Spot #4 - either:
- some Herblore Machine not seen in Invention (ie a machine that will let you input an extreme pot and get back 3 of a lower tier variant of that potion)
- a specific Farming Plot (Limp only, Cave Nightshade, Berries only used in Herblore)
- or a plot that lets you add in a seed to grow a plant to generate more of that seed type (ie: plant an Irit seed and get a chance to farm 4-10 of that seed later)

I'd just want to have reasons to even go to my house at all. I wish they just put all the istanced stuff inside your poh... Inv bench, machines, farm patch, POF, Slayer dungeon, ports, Crystal free, bank/ge... Just put everything in the house.

Ooooo I've been wanting a construction rework for a long time!!

There is SO much potential!!

There is so much more to build than just a player owned house!

Could have player owned Guilds with customisable skilling areas. Maybe share your personal skilling areas with friends as well ( Same as player owned slayer dungeons )

Freshen up the Citatdel with a group building thing perhaps? Whether the on going construction improves existing skilling plots, add new ones, or even contributes to building a new clan hang-out area with unlockable cosmetics or other clan positive aspects.

EDIT:: If using to improve existing skilling plots would need to reset each week along with citadel - the plot improvements can be subtle such as 1-5% xp increase

I think we need to break out from the individualness (my new word) of construction - Sorry, not into standing there advertising for my house party.

Perhaps even a construction oriented minigame similar to how Wintertodt (OSRS) works where its non combat, but may be required to build something to harm the foe.

Plenty of options and possibilities!

(Been saving all my proteans planks for the day it happens, logically anticipating construction to be the next 120 skill)

I think the community has been asking for a construction update / rework for a long time.

I know I have submitted lots of ideas for updates and expansions.

In case they got lost, here you go, Part 1:

Ability to move rooms without destroying them

Graphical update (with option to use it or not) & be able to use all dyes on furniture and walls and a seasonalizer like on the Player-Owned Farm

More available landscape and architectural designs

Time of day customization (affects lighting)

Garden - An unobtrusive exit portal; ability to construct a fairy ring, ability to grow Spirit Tree

Bedroom - Ability to restore stats by resting in bed

Skill Hall/Quest Hall - More variety; increased item showing off & larger rooms

Costume Room - Storage for more apparel & ability to show

Menagerie - Increased pet storage . . . all pets

Portal Chamber – New, additional teleport destinations including from different spell books

Formal Garden – more options; ability to construct a fairy ring and / or Spirit Tree

More rooms and bigger rooms allowing for current rooms to hold more items and put furniture where we want

Allow us to use the huge blank space around the house, maybe friends could build houses next to each other or this vast expanse could be used to build other skilling areas, also allow us to customize the terrain (creek, trees, rocks, etc)

And if friends can build next to each other and see each other’s houses, allow for each player to help build each other’s house together

And here you go, Part 2:

Allow to customize like a castle or other shapes (creative options including Frank Lloyd Wright, etc.)

Put all the different Citadel options to build and customize into the POH

After quests are completed, allow for some of that content to be added or customized into the home for landscape or wallpaper in some rooms

Some sort of drop from killing monsters we kill in the dungeon pits and allow for more customizations of those monsters

A Jewelry Box for different charged jewelry to be put in the house for those teleports

More locations around the world to put your house like Canifis, an underwater location by the Mogres, etc

Allow us to show allegiance to all the gods in RS including the godless faction and even oneself

New Rooms:
--Clan room –Armour / Weapons rooms
–Skilling Rooms for the other skills like agility course, greenhouse/farming patches, mining / smithing area, etc
--Porch / Veranda w/ grill and lounge chairs
--Hunting trophy room

And speaking of furniture, allow us to interact with it more somehow, maybe even allow for custom locations via drag & drop in construction mode if possible
