Simply put: is there any interest over at Jagex for returning the Sixth Age world events? All of them (The Battle of Lumbridge, The Bird and the Beast, Tuska Comes, the Siege of Falador, the Port Sarim Invasion, and even Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza) all contained critical lore, yet have been unplayable for nearly a decade now.

I could go into the merits of returning these world events, but first I just want to know:

Has anyone at Jagex ever considered bringing them back? Temporarily or permanently? With it without the original rewards?
I’m not great at this game, but I do love quests.

I don't think Jagex has ever said that they were, or were not, interested in this.

For what little it's worth, I think it's a good idea; as someone who played through the Sliske saga a few years after the events, it was definitely a bit of a jarring experience for the plot to suddenly lurch forward assuming I had taken part in an event that I hadn't. Vorago killing Tuska and getting invited to Endgame, Armadyl killing Bandos, etc. all basically happen off-screen unless you talk to a few specific NPCs. Hell, I didn't know that Port Sarim had been invaded and that it was the reason that we went to the Arc until I stumbled upon an entry on the Wiki talking about it. Up until then I always assumed that it had happened because we discovered the Arc during Ports and that we eventually decided to visit the Arc ourselves.

Being able to re-experience these events, even in a stripped down form, and making them pre-requisites for certain quests that build off of them (The Mighty Fall, Sliske's Endgame, the Arc miniquests, etc.) would go a long way to make the plot more cohesive to new players.

Bring back old World Event? No.

Making new ones? Maybe...

"#RunePoll: A random world event that turns ALL enemies and monsters into Hard Mode.

👍👎 Yea or Nay?"

I agree World Events should make a comeback, maybe not God vs God but something to unite against, like Tuska or even when the rift appeared in Draynor.

There are many World level events that could be utilized, Hostilius, Queen of Ashes arrival, they literally have so much in game content they could capitalize on.

I think they should not only make a return but become the core of the ongoing narrative of the world, with most quests centered around how the events unfold.

Jagex has talked about how these events are one-and-done but there are ways they could design the event gameplay to be robust enough to be implemented into ongoing content after the event is over. Moreover, the people that whined about how the world events had permanent consequences for the story and world of RS are literally the same sort of people who want the game to stay the same with content to be lazy repeats/copy-pastes.

One thing that really intrigued me about the canceled EverQuest Next (RIP) was that they were planning to do something similar to RS world events on a regular basis as part of permanent change. Doing that sort of thing with a live game (or "living game" as Jagex calls it) is a brilliant way to immerse the players, to make them feel like they're taking part in something truly world-changing AND it also subtly gives Jagex ways to give players control over the future of the game without reimplementing the rididulous Player Power polls.

So yes, after a continued focus on story and questing (which Jagex has done a pretty solid job with this year), my number one request for RS3 is to see world events make a return. The first two years of RS3 were my favorite time in this game's history. I absolutely loved being there when the gods returned and battled over the Lumbridge crater. I felt the stakes and the pressure of the warfare when Armadyl and Bandos battled it out over Asgarnia. Despite the sub-par gameplay, I felt like I was there helping to save our beloved Gielinor from Tuska.

Bring them back, Jagex. They really just further accentuated just how special this game is among MMOs. Nothing else in the genre could match the storytelling style of RS3 in 2013-2014. Nothing.

Probably not. The only use for world events is to give out a meager xp activity. They could add some really cool cosmetics as a reward. Some of these standard seasonal events already kind of account for a WE.
