I don't think you have a good judgement of today's MMORPGs, RS3 included. Gaining xp is no longer considered the main purpose. You can see all kinds of MMORPGs including WoW running DXP events. That brought their iconic fanboy Asmondgold to declare WoW Classic dead and tell all his minions to move over to the retail WoW.

Modern day MMORPGs can't live in the past. Gaining xp slowly for years is not a way to survive in the modern era.

Exactly.

If ppl want this type of game so badly, go play osrs.

Its there for a reason.

Grind reduction will inevitably be an agenda in all MMORPGs in the coming years when we are getting closer to the effective date of WHO's ICD-11 in Jan 1, 2022.

Modern gamers want fast track progressions and varieties anyway. MMORPGs like Runescape need to adapt to this modern metaphor to survive.

I actually like these more frequent DXP events. These are good for those of us legit players that are not in the jagex cult that are secretly allowed to bot to 5+ billion xp.

Tesh Valura is correct in what she says.

I personally wouldnt like to see any more than the 4 (3 monthly) DXP Weekends.

Gamers are free to go and play other MMORPG games that offer the fast track progressions but this is also where those games fail with everything handed to them on a plate.
It doesnt give players the satisfaction of achievement or hold their attention long term, so they are always looking for the next game/flashy thing, to grab their attention.

Runescape is a niche game, there are not many/if any that offers the long term playability and the tons of content to do, that can really immerse you.
Runescape is a deep game, a thinking/strategy/statistics, with you evolving your character over time earning the gamer plenty of self-satisfaction/accomplishment.

The "so called"modern gamer is a fake, grown from too much materialism and the, i want it now, me ,me ,me entitlement, and when they get it, they get bored soon after and start looking for the next thing.

Gaming and players have been around for approx 32 years,
the new generation want the fast and now games,
but the older gamers want a slower game like Runescape where they can develop their character over time.
There is now a massive age group of gamers, and it must be hard for developers to satisfy them all, but Runescape has always succeded by being xp gain and levels.

Like said, you can still have this by playing osrs while ppl on rs3 the "fast and now" version.

So why must ppl suffer just because you choose not to play a game thats clearly catered to what you want?

Runescape has been around for years, changing a game to cater to the new and fast generation is hypocritical. It has to evolve I agree
The game is based on xp and levels, plenty of content like questing etc depending on your character level is the fundamental design of the game.
Bonus XP weekends do weaken this, so does giving out tons of free xp ,

The game is now bordering on making all levels to 120, causing another balance issue,
I don’t mind but it has to be done right, it can’t be another excuse to making more bonusXP weekends in the future to cater to so called modern gamers.

Fast and now games struggle to hold customers, get boring after time, Diablo 3, WOW, Path of Exile for example, I don’t want to see RuneScape competing with them,
Runescape’s always been different. It’s taken the genre and given it some amazing depth and content.

As for the two gamers who decided to stop playing, that’s their choice, depending on their needs/wants,
it’s not a reason to say the whole game must cater to the so-called modern gamer.
