To further continue the discussion of unfinished old lore, we know Rite of Passage is going to be repurposed into some lore based Stormguard content.

The journey to Iaia lore is probably going to end with the Dragon Riders coming from Iaia to defend Gielinor rather. And Kerapac's son is going to discover the cure for their impotency at the end of the Effigy Incubator monthly series.

The legacy of the 3rd Age Godwar is spiraling to the endgame too, as Saradomin has apparently lost Crown and his powers and Zamorak has been invalidated by Zaros. Bandos is dead and Amardyl is peaceful.

Not a good sign when the OP hasn't been active in the last 6 months.
To be fair, Jagex hasn't released too many quests of late ... even if you do count the recent activity.

Not a good sign of what? Perhaps OP is very happy playing through all the quests based content and quests he made this thread for.

Jagex hasn't released too many quests of late?

They have released Azzanadra's Quest, Heartstealer, Violet is Blue, 2 RS20 Anniversary Quests, Shadow of Vault and the Rahska miniqust just the last 4 months.

What games are you comparing RS3 to justify your comment Jagex hasn't released too many quests of late?

Battle of the Monolith, the next chapter of the Elder Godwar is announced.

It is a month long quest/event hybrid that we will have new content every week starting next Monday, that we will see more and more gods among other NPCs involved every week. Similar to Moblishing Armies perhaps, we will be controlling army units as different NPCs.

The first week we will be helping Saradomin to defend the Monolith from Zaros.

Sounds like a new and very fun way to do quest/world event/minigame hybrid. :)

I believe Deltaslug is referring to how Jagex has released an absolute all time low number of three quests per year for the last two years which no clear intension to change this and how (the total lack of) communication gives us no reason to believe there will not continue to be anything other than a tiny amount of quests that have large gaps between them going forward.

I mean the fact Amascut didn’t see the point of making a third thread due to the lack of communication and upcoming quests really shows how little confidence the questing community has in Jagex releasing regular content.

Fat N Wacky kept the thread alive but the simple fact there are twelve *noted* shelved quests compared to the (being realistic) one quest we might expect to see in the next twelve months shows the failings of Jagex and that isn’t mentioning the*length of time* some of those updates have been there. When Jagex are hitting all time low quest numbers and even with double the yearly numbers of quests being release, some quest series were hitting all time low gaps - people go elsewhere and you can’t blame them.

It is pretty clear that Jagex seeing its future as making regular Yak Tracks and hoping Mobile will bring in a ton of players to play through the backlog of the game rather than having to make big exciting pieces of content than previous incarnations of Jagex brought to life. Having a positive outlook doesn’t change those facts.

@Autumn Elite

It is absolutely not true as RS3 has also released a lot of miniquests and lore based content like Mysteries the last 2 years.

Please look at OP's 1st post. This thread is not just what Jagex called quests specifically. It is also about miniquests and lore based content.

Well sure, if you change the definition of what counts to include additional content Jagex looks better. The same way if you lower the definition of what counts as poverty, you can claim there are less people in poverty.

We have never changed the definition before, why are we altering it now because Jagex is making less stuff? If you include small additional things then other years also have stuff like World Events and mini quests on top of their yearly quests so it is still a decline.

Obfuscating the decline doesn’t negate the fact there has been a decline. We have for the past two years hit rock bottom number of quest releases with no evidence this will change. Voice Acting is gone, cutscenes has been replaced, post quest dialogue has been a rarity for several years and we repeatedly get large stretches will little to no content at all - let alone quests. The front pages of these type of threads used to be filled with multiple quests releasing. Now we are six months into the year and there is no valid source stating we will get more than one other quest before the year ends.

If the current system still releases enough enjoyable content for you, that is great but let us not pretend there hasn't been a decline.

I didn't change any definitions of whatever. OP wrote up this thread to talk about quests, miniquests and all the lore based content he is definitely interested in.
Hence our discussions of all the lore based content on this thread.
