Whatever it is, I hope it’s a support skill since they’re the type with the fewest entries.

If the skill is, in fact, Necromancy, I think it being a Support skill is likely. Sure, Summoning was a combat skill despite having many non-combat uses, but there's so much more that can be done with raising the dead than simply using them in combat, especially if our Necromancy level is tied into the idea of strengthening our resistance to the Anathema. The possibilities are quite vast: we could duck into the Shadow Realm at will like Sliske and Khazard to aid in our stealth when Thieving or Hunting (or to bypass aggressive monsters), we could call upon the bodies and souls of long-dead mages and craftsmen to get their insight on how to make more efficient use of resources and rune essence, use the remains of dead wildlife and fish all around us to till soil for Farming or Archaeology and lure fish towards our hooks respectively... maybe even an ability to revive ourselves as a lich when we die instead instead of simply being sent to Death's Office. And that's all without considering the possibilities of new skilling methods and locations that we might find in the insane reaches of the Shadow Realm.

Being able to control the dead, even slightly, is one of the most potent tools we could ever hope to get our hands on, one that could aid in almost every facet of our day to day life on Gielinor. Truly a Support skill to end all Support skills; one only has to look at some of the most powerful, fearsome mortals we've ever known, Nomad and Oreb the Magister, to know just how gamechanging Necromancy can be in the right hands.

Whatever the 29th skill ends up being, I hope it will either be an F2P skill, or a P2P skill with a level 20 cap for F2P - as was done with Archaeology. Training a skill only to level 5 really provides almost no sense of what potential the skill has. Imagine if Archaeology had been capped at level 5 for F2P. We would be able to complete the tutorial, and that would be it.

It would be interesting if the new skill will be an elite skill - but requiring level 80+ in three other F2P skills. This way, any player could train the new skill, provided they have the stats to unlock it. Membership would be required to access all the benefits, as with every skill. However, it wouldn't be required to unlock the new skill.

I am predicting the new skill will NOT be:

Sailing
Prancing
Dancing
Bankstanding

To be fair Aslon, the Archaeology Tutorial actually did give a pretty concise description of what you do with the skill. Better than the old quests for Herblore or Summoning and what they tried to do when they released Divination.

On the other side, it didn't prepare you for the grind involved, nor the randomness of the damaged artifacts you pulled out.

I do agree ... it'd need ot have the same cap at 20 as F2P for it to get a proper taste. Or have a F2P accessible to 99/120, but some limits to what F2P can do. (imagine Archaeology, but F2P can only work 1-120 in Kharid-Et, but some areas would still be inaccessible due to no Dragonstones on F2P or other items being unavailable)

Looking more and more like the new skill is strongly related to sky, space, planets:

Khallazzar ponders the night sky - maybe they're trying to figure out what the next skill will be...

The Night Sky is our stars and planets. Scotty, beam us down to Teragard!

I do like the sound of that, having the world guardian turn to something a little darker would make for an interesting twist.

Maybe Jagex are just working through the alphabet and the next skill will be Astronomy.
Check out Thieves guild layout redesign. Happy ‘scaping

Actually, we already have Astronomy long long ago everywhere in RS3's stories:

https://runescape.wiki/w/Astronomy

Astronomy or space exploration/navigation goes perfectly after Archaeology, especially we the World Guardian have launched Zamorak into the space orbit. One day, our space barge will go pass Zamorak to Taragard. The question is whether we get to collect $200. It is our monopoly in RS3. :D

A support skill is something that we could use honestly, but not sure what it could be. Both Necromancy and Barding would be combat I believe. But I guess both could also be support.

The ones we have currently is Slayer, Thiev, Agility and Dungeoneering. So I feel like it would have to be area based. It would be nice to go away from Gathering/Crafting for a time.

But I am not sure at all what it could be.

If they make it match the questline coming next year which is supposed to be similar to that of Dragon Age, it could be something along the lines of teaching companions or companionship or something.
Come the Sixth-Age, the world will need the World Guardian.

Looking on how Jagex implemented crucial lore elements in the latest skills (divination and archaeology) suggests that the new skill will have something related with the latest quests concerning Elder gods, Mahjarrats, Dragonkin, and so on. I do think the skill will be something related to the player's connection to the shadow-like energy; better known as Anathema. I do think Jagex will keep expanding the Elder god's lore, Zaros, Seren, and Erebus. Anathema is what corrupted
Mah's egg, the reason why Mah was the way she was, and the reason why the major elder gods (Ful, Jas, Bik) left her. The corruption that emanated from the Erebus realm, through the dark portal, made Mah and by extension, Zaros and Seren, "corrupt" and conferred protection from the Elder gods. For those who don't remember, it's time to go back to the Extinction quest.

This is the reason why we, as the "world guardian", until
twilight of the gods, were protected from any god-like energy (gods themselves, artifacts) deriving from anything but Anathema.

This is also the reason why
Kerapac was so obsessed with the World Guardian and the "Shadow-like" energy.

Shadow magicks and the shadow realm derive from this source (e.g., the Animate dead spell) which makes me speculate the new skill might involve some sort of necromancy-like features. Perhaps Jagex will implement elements of Summoning, Magic, Runecrafting, and Prayer. It will also be an opportunity to deal with the number of pouches created from the Summoning skill. After all, Jagex is not satisfied with how Summoning is trained... It's runecrafting 2.0. That aside, we might be exploring the Realm of Erebus in our next encounter but with a new skill at hand. This can be accomplished now that
we acclimated to its environment thanks to this "shadow-energy".

There's probably a reason for the upload. I think it's alien though. It's symbols that all mortal from mother earth has seen. It's math, and the math looks like something about angle and coordinates. And that fits with astronomy and sky. Pythantom the Brave
