In case if you missed the Once Upon A Time RS20 Anniversary Quest series, I strongly recommend you to look at your quest log and start it. It is very entertaining and far more than just a 5 minute fetch-this-and-that holiday dumpster fire quest.

No. It is not a dumpster fire event in RS3. Not one that breaks the economy and delays everything to 2022. :)

Yes, I did enjoy those quests (though I felt like the finale felt very rushed and/or underwhelming for a finale).

And yeah, it pretty much is for everyone except those who enjoy skilling and have hours to sink into the game every day.

Good that you enjoyed this kind of quests like Once Upon A Time... then the question is why do you have a problem with the
extra bonus and optional
skilling activities the other enjoy to spend hours on?

If Jagex didn't blatantly lie about the "exponential drop rates", thus leading people like myself to buy the buyable one (if they can afford it), it would have been optional. But no, they lied about the drop rates and 30m is not chump change for anyone who doesn't have the time, energy or patience to grind dreadfully boring skills for hours just to get a stupid, shiny hat.

They never "lied about" the drop rate as it has never been announced. Nobody is required to pay 30 mil for a shard. I didn't. You chose to buy it then what's the problem? You thought about the "exponential drop rate" anyway, so why did you still want to buy a shard for 30 mil gp when you could get it from the "exponential drop rate" from playing like me.

Again, all the other events out the quest that you enjoyed are just extra bonus. If you don't want to do it then just don't then you can have even better quests than OSRS this year... correction... check that the OSRS Christmas quest isn't even out.

Yes, they did. It's clearly NOT exponential. An exponential drop rate wouldn't take 8+ hours to get ONE shard. It wouldn't take 30+ hours to get all of them. And no, you're right, we're not required to pay that but since Jagex lied about the drop rates, I bought it thinking that the grind would be reasonable, not 30+ hours. And if you know me, you know I despise grinding, skilling is one of my least favorite aspects of this game, thus why I bought the 30m one: I figured that it'd reduce the grind I had to do, not realizing that Jagex still expected me to spend 30+ hours grinding to try to get the dumb thing. By then, I was locked in because they refused to let us give the shard back in exchange for the 30m to be returned. If they would have let me do that, I wouldn't be so angry about it.

Oh, and let's not forget one of Jagex's biggest lies: that they supposedly care about mental health. What a load of bull. If they did, events like this would be so far from the realm of their ideas but nope, all they do is fling soulless GrindScape events at us with absolutely zero substance or real content to them.

I remember a time when holiday events involved a 30 minute to hour-long festive quest that was FUN, encouraged the holiday spirit and gave you a reward just for completing it. Now, you have to work toward the rewards by grinding content and having absolutely zero semblance of fun.

Jagex is just dead to me, in general. If this game didn't have plenty of other content that I love, if I hadn't spent almost a literal year of my life in this game, I would have moved on when they started the garbage Yak Track. But unfortunately, I'm smitten by the game as a whole so I'm stuck here. I love the game itself, and I want it to be better but I'm becoming worried that Jagex is only interested in making RS3 a cash cow nowadays... which, as any experienced MMO player knows, is what begins to build the coffin for an MMO.

Actually, I shouldn't say they're dead to me, as I give them credit for what they did with Premier Club this year and OSRS still seems to be making REAL content and REAL holiday events. I'm just thoroughly concerned about the future of RS3, which is my main game. As I said, I love this game and want it to be better but events like these take away ALL of the uniqueness of RS and just turn it into any other generic MMO... which is just about the LAST thing Jagex should be doing if they want the game to grow. ~

@Jaekob Caed

Before you deflect my thread further and further away, please be advised this thread is for what the Christmas Event in RS3 is, and the Future Update Forum is for discussion of future RS3 game update. If you intend to talk about why you don't like the Christmas update, you are certainly in the wrong place. If you intend to talk about OSRS, again, wrong forum and there is an OSRS forum for your discussion.

Good bye!

Yes, it's about the Christmas event. That's what we're talking about here. It's not deflecting anything.

To Jagex Developers,

I think the 2021 Christmas Event was a fail; specifically, in the area of presents to get the green party hats, and the awarding of tokens for permanent cosmetic effects, teleports, etc.

I earned ~230 presents of various colors on a diminishing probability scale and none were the golden presents that gave a 50% chance of a GSH. What is worse is that I got around 30 tokens which were useless because I had already activated effect and they were no longer needed and no-one on the GE was buying them. Lastly there was all this Christmas food garbage.

It would have been much better if the junk could somehow be used to increase the chances of getting the green Santa hat.

The irritant is that the event really did nothing bug waste my time forcing me to get rid of junk that I did not want.

To close, Jagex Developers please never ever release a Christmas event like this last one again. It was really awful.

And 200M for a super secret Santa; that is just stupid.

I got my Super Secret Santa title with 3 Tablets of Het. I farmed 23 fragments myself and bought the other 7 for less than like 1 mil gp. If similar events happen in the future, perhaps it helps to survey the market and everybody can be opportunistic too.
