Agreed.

With getting charms summoning exp is not that good. I don't know why people always consider training as just running to the obelisk. There is an aspect of collecting money as well. All of it adds up.

Jagex already introduced an items sink in the form of invention. Now I can't get half the items from ge, because they are extremely low volume. Great to flip but awful to buy.

Hopefully what jagex does is realise that the skill is complete, do some balancing here and there. Release a few familiars between 1-99 and leave it alone. Because if they are gonna pour resources into making 120, we will be missing out on good content.

id rather see them rework the skill... some of the familiars are still stuck in 2007 :| and some are outright useless..

120 will just add to that problem, since the originals are already useless for a reason...


most likely all we'll see is a couple of combat familiars near to 120, and that will be it.. skill will still be pointless, and it still wont be worth using... majority of people go with a couple of familiars, a granite lobster for fishing, pack yak for carrying, mammoth for carrying and steel titan, nihils for combat, with lower levels using a bunyip..
and meerkats for caskets but you cant make those....
if you removed all the other summoning familiars no one would bat an eyelid....

im not opposed to upping all skills to 120, but upping it without first balancing and reworking the skill is just stupid...

How come they didnt have to "rework" slay before that got updated to 120?

So if they can do it for slay, i see no reason why they cant for sum?

They did have to since EoC broke it actually. Quite funny they made it a 120 when 1 to 99 is still so broken.

Mind you DG is 120 and looks at the state of that since eoc.

In the case of Slayer, making it 120 was a safe thing to do. It's sort of like Dungeoneering being 120. Slayer and Dungeoneering benefit from your combat stats from the rest of the game, but they don't provide anything the rest of the game uses.

If Mining and Smithing went to 120, on the other hand, then people would have super-powerful armor and weapons that could unbalance the game.

Well, Summoning produces familiars that help with combat and so on. So making Summoning 120 isn't a "safe" decision. Instead, it's the first step towards making the critical skills - Mining, Smithing, and Crafting on the one hand, and then Attack, Strength, Magic, Ranged, Defense and Constitution on the other - all 120.

But Summoning is still on the periphery, even if less so than, say, Farming, Fishing, and Cooking. Or Divination.

So I am a little surprised that they're making Summoning 120 instead of something easier, like, say, Agility.
