I whole heartedly agree with the OP. These are items that people used money to obtain. To take away or to convert them in any way that is unreasonable is a slap to the face. I would have thought they would have learned from the rare token mishap but it seems they enjoy shooting theirselves in the foot now.

Hearts of ice, when used correctly, can greatly impact the way treasure hunter works. They can negate a large handful of common items and take you to uncommon and above fairly regularly. 2000 hearts of ice used across 200 keys could profit well over 20,000 oddments more than what you could expect without using them.

1 oddment for 5 ice is a slap to the senses and I can only hope they made a typo.

I have almost 5k HoI unused I accumulated for years and will only get 1k oddments for them. However, I reckon it was my laziness the past few years not to use them that might have caused me chances to obtain better prizes.

I agree that the 5:1 heart of ice conversion is terrible. Most spend money to get the hearts of ice and that conversion rate is terrible. I can see 2:1 or even 3:1 but still, just because there are not a lot of chances to use them shouldn't mean that they give a bad ratio and then roughtly say something like "here is something and that is better than nothing."

I saw in some of the other comments that people were asking " how many hearts of ice do you have?" to me, that shouldn't matter if you have 5 or 500,000 it is still a bad conversion rate and it shouldn't matter how many people have a lot of hearts of ice because, in the end, they bought them or earned them and giving a jacked conversion rate because there are a lot of them in the game is something that the players who have them shouldn't be penalized for. This is just my opinion.

If we pay for the majority of them (as I did) when buying keys, then we should get better compensation for them when they are removed from the game. I know that Jagex will not listen to this and will not change it to a better ratio which I think is very unfortunate.

Unlike Rare Item Tokens, you had more opportunities to use up Hearts of Ice. (Mostly because that store wasn't updated
In addition
- you could use up to 10 (during most promos or non-promo events) to remove nearly 1/4 of the prize list, making it so you were more likely to receive a prize better than common or keep it in line with the skill(s) or reward type(s) you prefer
- members could get up to 30 per day they could use up (2x tokens per day AND 1 with the completion of daily challenge)
- there were promos that allowed you to literally chuck in as many Hearts of Ice as you wanted to improve the reward chance.

I do agree that ratio isn't ideal, but unlike some of their previous arguments, this one ... the players did legitimately have oppurtunities ever single day to use them AND to effect the outcome of rewards in their favor to get something better.
That you chose not to use them or were an Ironman, isn't exactly as much of an excuse.

Frankly, if you've done TH enough to get 1000 or even 5000 or 10000 Hearts of Ice ... you've been playing a God Awful amount of Treasure Hunter.

Hearts of Ice became useless once the treasure hunter offered a choice of three prizes, and I haven't used any in a very long while.

So, IMO, an exchange for oddments is getting something of value for giving up something worthless.

Certainly I would appreciate a better exchange rate, but it's "free" oddments, so I can't complain too loudly.

Agree. I feel the same way. I have not used the hearts of ice so regardless of the exchange rate, I'll at least use the oddments.

This.

I mean - I most likely won't use the oddments fully either - I've stocked up 100k of them by now - but at least I use oddments every once in a while. I only did that with the hearts when their promotions actually had something I would've wanted to get - which basically (and tbh great - missing out on extremely powerful things for a long time was one of the most rancid things they ever did) wasn't the case for 5 years or so.

Literally the same thing with those rare tokens - they were entirely useless at some point - dunno why some players still are mad about them being converted into something useful.
