This is absolutely insulting. You get one heart of ice per key used, and you're going to convert them down to oddments at a 5 heart to 1 oddment rate? When we get bare minimum 25 oddments from a spent key?
You're saying I need to have used 250 keys just to buy one medium prismatic star when it's 75% off? Or have used 1000 keys just to buy one star when it's not on sale?
Did jagex not learn their lesson from Rare Item Tokens?
Before you get too heated, OP, how many hearts of ice do you have?
They hadn't updated the rare item token store in years.
Rare tokens were just that, rare.
So the ability to get them and use them was limited.
Hearts of ice you get 1 per key, +5 on 5th key use.
They've had a lot of promos of late that didn't let you use Hearts of ice.
But you still had opportunities to burn up to 10 hearts per key use.
It also becomes a question of how many player have thousands to tens of thousands of hearts of ice.

You have absolutely mistaken secondary gift as what you actually get on spending a key. When you spend a key, you get the main reward of course. You can choose to get oddments. You also get a gift of other guaranteed items on spending x number of keys for some promotions.
HoIs are just secondary gift from spending keys. You don't buy keys and spend them to get HoI as the main reward.
Still, you get 1/th key & an additional 5 if you've done 5 or more th keys in a day.
but to go, 'use them up while you can before we removed them' while running a 7 day event where we cant use them is just beyond stupid.
+ take into account the prizes in the oddments shop, compare it to how Hoi are earned, a 5:1 conversion isnt right, a 1:1 or 2:1 conversion would be more correct.
say you have 25k Hoi, that means you get 5k oddments, wich gives you 11TH keys(without them being discounted in the oddments store), doesnt seem like a fair conversion now does it? especially if you take into account that saving up 25k Hoi would take years. (unless if you bough 25K TH spins in 1 day ofc..) but still
the 5:1 conversion is BS, and should be 2:1 ATLEAST.

If you think so, then you should definitely use up your HoIs in future events prior to the eventual conversion date months later. I am leaning this way too although I don't really care much about 5:1 or 2:1 conversion since I believe the vast majority of us players don't have thousands of HoIs. Even at 2:1 conversion rate, a couple of thousands of extra oddments mean extremely little as we can just accumulate that many oddments in a few days just by using our free daily keys.

This punishes ppl who don't buy keys often and ppl who are key lords aren't really affected
How so? Oddments have become so easy to obtain now even if we have over 9,000 HoIs accumulated from years of TH means nothing. Don't forget we get 5,000 oddments from just one Prime Gaming reward chest this month.

I am thinking the same - planning to hold off before deciding whether to spend or convert to oddments.
