So I love the combat aspect of necromancy, but I have some serious issues with the ritual side of things.
For one it's insanely obnoxious running up and repairing your materials every other ritual. Doing rituals is supposed to be more relaxing and afk but you have to repair the candles and lesser t1 glyphs so frequently..

Another major issue is the ritual ingredients themselves, it is so insanely tedious looking up what you need for rituals... because every ritual requires ingredients that you get from other rituals that require ingredients that you get from other rituals....

You need 5X to do Y, but you need to do Z to get X, but you can only get Z by doing A, so you need to do A like 20 times, so you can get enough material to do Z 5 times to get enough X to do Y..

Do you see how this is confusing and annoying?

If you love the combat aspect of necromancy then just do the combat aspect of necromancy. You only need to do a couple of rituals for quests and Diaries, otherwise vast majority of the time you can just do whatever combat you like.

Nobody said rituals are supposed to be relaxing and afk. Don't you see some RSOF users think rituals are too easy? For example, the thread just below this one. :)

We need to look up what runes we need to cast what magic spells too. it is just a matter of getting used to it then we will subconsciously know what runes we need for what spells. It is not much difference with rituals. Besides the level gaps between different kinds of ritual are very big, we don't have many reasons to change rituals often anyway.

This is hardly confusing. If you want to plan ahead, don't we do the same "confusing and annoying" calculations to get ourselves with how many super potions and herbs to make extreme potions and another set of herbs and then overloads... and then different kinds of overloads with yet another set of ingredients?

Yes, it's totally confusing to start but it does get easy and later ones last longer rather than 30 seconds, but you will miss out on the random events if you afk.

A few tips: if you changing items then just click ''clear all'' and start on a clean board that way they should all run out the same time, then just click repair all in the middle part and should last 6 turns.

Level 2 items last 12 turns but sometimes you need a level 1 item with it so if you have space on the board build a 2nd spare level 1 item and when first runs out the 2nd will take over then just click repair all again.

If you not afk and playing active it's better to build a multiplier on the spare tiles which will last 6 turns so same as the level 1 item. Repair all will only fix the broken tiles and it won't waste materials repairing the level 2 items that round. Next round (12 turns total) if will repair the whole board.

@ Dilbert you have to do rituals to unlock the combat stuff unless you just want to use the basic auto attacks.

Most of the quests need it done also for the souls or you can't start them. I think its 3k to upgrade your items to level 70.

You cannot get souls from combat only the talent points.

Yes, just for a couple of quests. I actually updated my post before I saw yours. We can get souls many ways, just any kind of ritual will give us souls so if people like OP are so confused and annoyed, they can just stick with the one ritual with a fixed set or ingredients for all the souls they want. Really no sweat and confusion then.

That's my thoughts too, it's a bit tedious.

Initially I thought the Rituals would be the way for me to go for training Necro, but the combat side seems a lot easier and, unless I'm miscalculating (which I often am), faster,

That doesn't change the fact that rituals are bad game design. You don't solve problems by avoiding them. It's the same as saying that if you don't like fishing then just do woodcutting.

IMO this makes a lot more sense once you get settled into tier 2, like Mini JIT said above. They last twice as long, and since the materials are harder to get, you want to use all of the charges.

The most efficient way is to start 'fresh'. Clear the board so all of the materials have maximum durability. Then, even if you are using tier 1 and 2 combined, all of it will expire after 12 rituals.

Having them last longer also answers the bank question a bit. It's actually more simple when you are concerned about wasting materials. As you advance there is less need for a bank.

Necromancy is designed for both combat and non-combat. How is it bad design when the likes of OP who loves the combat aspect can just play through the combat aspect of necromancy?
