I don't have a Reddit account. Don't want one.
I don't have an X account. Don't want one.
I don't find Discord to be friendly to use.
Whatever the faults of the forums, they are still connected to the game. Still useful for connecting with others that you wouldn't run into during gameplay.
Still the best place to go when the game is broken to find answers.
Players who are already comfortable using those other platforms not related to the game won't understand the negative impact to the rest of us.
Yeah, it's nice to have a place to talk that's away from social media. Rest in peace dear forums, I didn't use you much, but I will miss you.
We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. If we let players start doing this, it devalues RuneScape for others. We feel your status in real-life shouldn't affect your ability to be successful in RuneScape.
Whatever the faults of the forums, they are still connected to the game.
This is the main point, I didn't use the forums much but that aspect of "logging in" and "logging out" I will miss. I don't always want to post something but the fact that I only need an RS account to do it means I can.
Idk how I will carry on recording my F2P Pure progress.
at the end of the day Jagex hasn't represented the players for a LONG time and that is because they cater to the minorities that use Reddit and formulate updates on the basis of those comments.
Where if they updated and reworked the forums and had internal means of communication better established it would include the majority of players
I first noticed this with Solak release, there were several bugs in which Mod Ramen wouldn't listen to the problems because it supported the fact he was larping over noone being able to kill a bugged boss. He had stated that to answer these forums required logging into his Jagex Account and that it was not something he could be bothered with. Setted a bad example imo
But nonetheless this is the mentality of the Twitch gamerboys that Jagex have employed.. They are lazy and all they do is LARP.
Soon moved his overweight backside when a new bug helped some of us kill it.
He wasn't larping then was he.

I agree, I don't go to look for discord. I do feel annoyed that they listen only to youngsters and not to players who have no interest in spending even more time for searching news after their working hours.
Not catering for this forum is lazy, one of the 7 cardinal sins
A whole group of players will be without a voice (and sometimes without a clue) So much for reaching to players

Sorry to burst your bubble bud but the forums are the minority and it's not even close. The metrics are publicly available and precisely what Jagex is basing this decision on. Most of the community is communicating on Reddit, Discord, and Twitter.
