Update .... Us 2 oldies {tapping on 70} have managed to go onto the Jagex launcher and transfer it all over . We got the 2 gold shards .As soon as we logged in i cooked 25 sharks and lo and behold another gold shard . After 40 hours of nothing i now have 6 shards . Launching it over is a pain but it can be done . Good luck everyone .

As an update on the email situation, the support page was updated with the following this morning:

We have confirmed that there are some issues for players using Yahoo when trying to make a Jagex Account, as there is an issue with Yahoo emails experiencing a delay in receiving email verification messages.

If you want to create a Jagex account using a Yahoo email address, please wait until this issue is resolved. Alternatively use another email provider for Jagex Account creation - you can always change your email at a later date if the issue is resolved.

This is fixed for me.....using a yahoo email address as well.

I created my account.

Logged into the game.

Received my 2 shards.

What a run around to get this done. You would think, this would be tested, retested and tested again before presenting tot he public <shrugs>

Not liking the fact that I now have to wait for an email code....

EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.I.WANT.TO.PLAY.

That is ridiculous!!!!!!

Totally unnecessary.

I made my Jagex account with the same name and same password as before...nothing has changed except now I have to wait for a code, in order to play.

My name and password are the same....

The fact that it has mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication (vs a RuneScape account's optional MFA) is in itself a huge security upgrade. Someone who happens to pull your password from a database leak somewhere out on the web can't log in because they don't have access to your phone or email, depending on what you have set up.

The fact that it has finally implemented case sensitive passwords is a security upgrade.

The fact that by having all logins use the website portal instead of each game client having to implement a login flow is a security upgrade, since now Jagex can employ the use of industry standard technology (brute-force prevention, DDoS prevention, and similar) available to HTTP endpoints to protect that portal, which would not be compatible with their own protocol from the game itself.

The fact that Jagex Accounts cannot be recovered through the old RuneScape recovery system, which relied on a human aspect and was often abused in cases of account sharing gone wrong, is a security upgrade.

The fact that you are notified of all logins and can act sooner if someone does get into your account and mitigate the damage is a security upgrade.

The above are just a few of the improvements provided. It might seem like an unnecessary upgrade to you if you've never been hijacked, but it does do a lot for making sure that only you can log into your characters. At some point, only so much can be done with a 20 year old account system created when there weren't models to follow as an example where every fix is like applying a new band-aid to a worsening wound.

Players have been asking for years for additional security protections for their accounts. No one wants to see hijacked accounts out there. This system provides what the old one could not.

To my understanding, this was specifically an issue more on Yahoo's end - unfortunately there is only so much that can be done when the issue is with a third party provider.

The Jagex Launcher should remember your credentials. As long as you aren't using a shared or public computer, you should just be able to keep the Jagex Launcher logged in. Since I swapped over early this year I think I've only had to log into the launcher twice.

You could also change your Jagex Account over to using a code from an authenticator app (the same way that the previous RuneScape Authenticator worked), so that you don't need to go to your email every time.

The last one I received was the one that worked, even though it was hours after....
