Just to let you know that torwards the end of this year, you will need to do it anyways if you want to even log in to RuneScape since Jagex will be ending support for the RuneScape accounts.
So might as well do it now so as to not have to worry about it when that point comes. As for now one will even get something out of it.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

i don't care about signing up for the account management
my password and log in for that should be for that only
not for my in-game log in
i told them to cancel my account and refund my money
I DO NOT WANT MY STUFF CHANGED
FOR ANY REASON

It is a shame that you feel this way but the game as a whole is always evolving and changing. Example the new skill coming out, Jagex is a business and as such will try to meet the consumers' needs and interests. Personally I've had involvement in RS as a game since very near the beginning (classic) and love the way that the game has improved since the one click every tick days. Understandably some players find change upsetting but in all i suggest giving things a go and not getting so upset. Just my two cents worth
.
There's supposedly a bad luck mechanic built in to increase chance based on number of failed attempts to get a shard.
I'm currently over 2000 logs burned with several hours of training. This isn't worth the time.
