Capping alch machines is fine but I do feel they should've said something about it. Lack of proper communication was part of the problem with how they went about death costs and the GE tax. The last thing we need is more poor communication about what they're doing about the player economy. They're risking a lot of unnecessary problems just by not talking to players enough.

I actually discussed the matter of alching, alch machines and dealing with gold generation in my thread about death costs and the GE tax. The issues with expecting people to go back to manual alching are pretty similar to the assumptions of people going back to manual trading after the GE tax. Balancing item values to match their disassembling value seems like a pretty important step to take in figuring out how to balance everything else like item droprates, skilling item sinks, etc.

If players really could have 2 of both tiers rather than 2 alchemisers total of either tier then the situation with them was worse than I thought. A hard cap on 2 alchemisers total was very much necessary. 4 machines alching 24/7 nonstop is exactly why they generate so much gold per day in the first place.

They should if they could. Two years ago they would have covered many of these kinds of things in their weekly regular livestreams at least 2 weeks before the release of such content.

The problem is they aren't even allowed to make one livestream or release a developer blog a few days before the release, and they certainly can't tell us everything when they have a hard cap of 45 minutes for a livestream. Shame on whoever put such stupid limitations on RS3's communication the last 2 years.

I was talking about this during the buildup for the Wilderness rework last year.

> The livestream for Fort Forinthry -DID- in fact have mention of a hard cap of two Alchemiser machines before the update went live.

> This was -not- mentioned in a relevant front page newspost, that would have been visible from the game client before logging in (for those using Jagex Launcher)

Firstly, (and I think they do this sometimes at least), Jagex should post the Twitch VOD as soon as they can from the conclusion of stream.

Secondly, they should spend LESS time trying to sell the update to the player with flowy nonsense and MORE time explaining how the update works.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, having a Q&A/FAQ transcript (which is where the Alchemiser news would have been dropped) placed in the newspost is ESSENTIAL for people who probably can't comb through the stream to find the relevant information.

I.e. "Will I be able to build a third Alchemiser with a t3 Workshop at the Fort?" "No, and we'll be hard capping the amount of Alchemisers to two. This is because we want to avoid this update contributing to inflation as best we can."

---

I want to vouch for the folks like Mod Jack who do these livestreams, and I also want to provide spotlight to players like ImRubic who make transcripts for places like Reddit that allow the information to be seen in a more digestible format.

The fact of the matter though, is that Jagex needs to be able to condense information like this -on top- of making it visible in more places. The more information a newspost provides, the less instances of players being caught unaware of changes occur.

Roddy Piper: "It seems to me if you are running any more than 1 machine for alching, then you are probably buying items to alch for the small amount of profit available."

Just so you know it's not that small. Assuming about 3k per item alched profit that gives you 15 mill profit every 8 days or so per machine.

Two machines provides around 30 mill per 8 days in profit or 60 mill in 16 days.

That's nearly a bond every two weeks, not quite, but close. Profits do vary on what you buy to alch, combined with what you get as drops or make, etc. It can be much higher. But even with little effort buying things in the GE at the lowest prices you can it's good money.
