Most 'new accounts' are likely to be alt accounts of current players or ones of old players returning to the game. I'm not too confident we'll ever be seeing any truly 'new' players starting their adventures as we used to. You might get the odd one, but they'll be quite rare.
A lot of factors play into that too - the aged community, the constant grind and repetive nature of the game, little variation in the content and it seems to be more and more focussed on supporting itself as a 'single player' experience. Or at least that's how many who still play tend to lean towards.
Anyone ever had someone go up to you, follow you, request help or chat like you used to years back? Or start a conversation that doesnt devolve into deragotary bs and 'memespeak'? Heck have any of you said or received a hello from someone just while walking about, doing your daily scaping thing?
It happens sure, just nowhere near what it was or could be.
