Support. With how popular mobile and retro style games are Jagex is just burning money by not having at least 1 RSC server.
So not only reverse a decision that was made because of the amount of effort and resources needed to keep RSC open, but ALSO invest
even more
time and resources in porting the entirel game to mobile?
In the real world, this just is not going to happen.

The amount of resources is one cheap server. The amount of effort is less than they put in to the forums that currently have 2 people on them. The game is written in Java and already works on mobile; there's no need to port anything.
Regardless both your points and my counters are moot because they didn't close Classic for the reasons you think. Don't forget they closed RS2 as well. Look how big of a mistake that was given it's ~5x the population of RS3 ATM.

Ah of course. The entirely sensible and logical reasons that the company gave for shutting down an ancient and outmoded game were of course insufficiently convincing, and we should believe in some kind of conspiracy theory instead. Right.

There is no conspiracy theory. They closed RSC for the same reason they closed RS2; they wanted everyone to play the current game/RS3. Once they started suffering monetarily and saw how popular RS2 private servers were they succumbed to the pressure and released OSRS. OSRS is over 4x as popular as RS3 lol.

Hi all, just making a request for jagex to bring back RuneScape classic, it's my childhood. Surely the upkeep cost next to nothing. I see there are a few private servers but I really don't want to be forced to play one of them. I can only see benefits from bringing it back. I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in checking it out. One of the private servers as a decent amount of players so there is obviously interest. Don't be ashamed of your history! I hope this message reaches the right person. Thank you.
