Apologies for the double post, but I just did a bunch of looking into the Ancestor Spirits Aura around the web on different forums, videos, and guides, and here are some important findings:
1. It counts as your kill.
-What this means for 10hp pures is that you do not have to hit an enemy in-order to have that kill count as yours. Without the aura, you would need to attack the NPC/Monster to have the kill count as yours and risk gaining combat/constitution xp. If the ancestor spirits deal damage at any time during the fight it will count as your kill. It does not have to be the last hit. Meaning that you can recoil an enemy with the aura activated, wait for the ancestor spirits to hit, and then finish the enemy with recoils and the kill/drop is yours (and you don't run the risk of gaining any combat/constitution xp).
2. It does not give xp.
-When the ancestor spirits strike it does not give you combat xp of any sort.
3. The recoil damage is independent of the hit damage.
-The three main differences between this aura and a ring of recoil is that it counts as a kill (1), the amount of damage the recoil does is not consistent (3), and that the recoil doesn't always happen when hit (4). The fact that the damage recoiled is not consistent or based upon the hit is very much in the grey. It seems as if the ancestor spirits cannot hit over 100+ damage, and that the recoil hit is perphaps based upon the enemies stats/your stats/or is just random... This section is not confirmed, but it is known that the recoil hit is not based upon the hit your receive or consistent in any means.
4. The recoil happens about ~15% of the time when hit.
-Every time you are hit by an enemy (with the aura activated) you have a small chance of the ancestors coming to whack your enemy. I've read on two different videos that it's estimated that the ancestors come about 15% of the time when hit. The 15% rate is not confirmed, only an estimate.
