Very nice guide. It's about time that someone brings up issues of efficiency and provide insights to the public.
However, goals can differ between players. One may find earning maximum amount of experience worth the most enjoyment, while others find chatting around in GE does. Therefore, the goal should not be purely maximisation of GP and EXP, but the maximisation of utility, which is psychological satisfaction received from actions taken within the game.
If a player yields a cardinal utility of, say 500, from earning 1m gold, yet he is very interested in woodcutting, and cutting 100 magic logs would yield utility of 600, then given if both actions take same amount of time, he will choose to woodcut, yet not losing efficiency because of the utility benefits given in such actions as he values self-cut magic logs much higher than gold. Perhaps when he is bored of WC, he may choose to earn 1m gold, as 500 is now greater than perhaps 400 from WC 100 magic logs.
Therefore the problems we all face is not exactly to maximise GP and EXP, but the maximisation of utility, and because of the fact that each player values utility is fundamentally different, it is difficult to both measure and maximise one's utility with a universally functional formula or technique.
Your guide serves a very excellent method to help people increase their efficiency, but the best advise attached with this guide would probably be, "Do whatever you would like to do, but keep the efficiency in mind."
