The limitation for not completing Family Crest is that you cannot store gold bars/ores into the metal bank or the ore box.

If you want to make the amulets you'll need to perform the smithing/crafting as how it was before the rework (which is to carry the mould, diamonds and gold ores in your inventory, smelt the gold ores, and then craft the amulets).

It is annoying. I've bought an extra bracelet mold and put it in my backpack inventory (even tho I have one in my toolbelt), gone to the furnace in Prif and no joy. Now I'm trying to figure out where the hell the artisan furnace is so I can trek to that place and see if I can get this done. Wasted so much time messing around with this. Irritating.

I really don't know why people have issues with this. But here's a picture to show you what to do and where to find the gold.
This is done with the Falador furnace.

On the right side of the picture, you can see I have one gold bar.
On the left side, under
Casting Metals & Glass
, you can see I have zero gold bars. This means I do not have any gold bars stored in my metal bank.
You can also see that I have selected
Gold Casting
. This will display all the jewelry you could craft. Did you do these steps?
On a side note, some people try to click the gold bar, and then click the furnace. This is NOT required. Just simply click the furnace and follow those steps. Please see the comment above your post. It goes over how to craft jewelry. You click the Gold Bar and it will open the category for gold jewelries.

Your item requires
1 Gold Bar
and
1 Dragonstone

DragonStone Gem
' out of a dragonstone, otherwise you won't have the option of making a DragonStone Ring. ;)
