• Attack another ship, or join a large battle of ships.
• Explore the seas off the map for resources (North, South, East, or West).
• Head to a friendly/allied port or claim.
• Form a blockade around a claim or an island.
• Raid a claim for resources.
• Sail to a claim and trade.
Blockades
3 or more ships are required to set up a blockade. A blockade may be formed in a sea square or around an island. If a blockade is centered around a claim, that claim's resources may not be collected. If a blockaded is formed in a sea square, normal movement in that square is prohibited without permission.
There are two ways to deal with blockades.
1) Attack the blockade (handled via Ship Combat rules).
2) Outrun the blockade. Have the runners pair up blockading ships with running ships. Have each roll 1dX (X is the Speed of the ship). If the runner ship wins, it gets away; if it fails, resort to Ship to Ship Combat.
Exploring the Seas
A ship can be sent to explore the seas off the map (whichever is closest). The ship must have enough Speed and Morale to reach the edge of a map. For every week a ship is off the map, the ship will find 1dX resources of a random type, where X is the Seafaring of that ship.
The resource type is determined by rolling 1d7 (Wood, Ore, Flax, Fish, Energy, Runes, Gold). If Gold comes up, the ship finds a chest with the roll times 1000 gold. (e.g. if you roll a 5, you find 5000 gold). If a ship obtains more than 20 resources, excess resources are wasted.
Morale still impacts ships off the map. If a ship stays at sea for too long, it will be forced to return to the nearest friendly port.
