Reword this:

"You are tired of doing floors with idiots and rage quitters on dungeoneering worlds."

Change this:

"Floor times average 20-35 minutes."

Our floor times are faster, if people realised that I'm sure they'd be more willing to join. The first line just bugged me. Even if it's true of some people, it's still not a great way to go about making your point.

Bring back records, sort of. Giving people something to aim for and work towards can be a great motivational tool. Not only this, but it would also showcase our times and show potential members that we're not completely outdated, and still offer very decent Xp/H.

I say "sort of" because I'd like records to be handled slightly differently.

Put in some sort of limitation like "you can only be listed twice per theme." to prevent taking over the records, while at the same time leaving room to improve your own records.

Bringing back "records", would show other players we do have decent times, and decent xp/h. I'm sure more people would join if they saw that. Heck we might even get some who join purely to beat and maintain the records. :P

I wasn't in Dg4fun when the records were, so I'm not 100% sure why they were removed. I do think they'd attract more people, and maybe even (temporarily at least) boost the amount of floors we having going.

I'll change the floor times average.

We took away the records because people focused on them too much. The whole point of dg4fun is not to be obsessed with getting the fastest time, but having a fun floor done well. I know that we can repeat over and over that the hiscores is not the main goal and does not only reflect the keyer's skill, but why have one when it's going to make half the keyers focus only on the time? It's fun to try to do your personal best every floor. It's even fun to beat your old record times. But I think that making an official hiscores in which keyers compete against each other provides more bad than good.

Things like people forming teams via pm to avoid taking "slow" people on their record breaking attempts happened. We want more forming in the fc, not less.

Also, over half the applicants do not even make it to the farming section of the thread. They only make it there the second time because we force them to read. I'm sure they do not go looking for more to read. The hiscores were on this thread, not the recruitment one because they were not all that important. They were an internal fun game, not one we wanted to make our reason of existing.

I don't think we'd entirely want the type of people who would join just to beat records. We actually try to discourage that kind of behavior :P . Have fun dungeoneering while getting decent xp. We need a hiscores for that.

Some people quit forming or joining floors in the fc because they wanted to break records, and would A.) leave the floor when someone less desireable for breaking records joined the floor or B.) would quit forming floors, and just consistently form them with friends in the group.

The issue was only with people trying to break records so we just removed them and said there weren't any records to break and a floor should have a fast time just because things went smoothly, not because you are forming a floor with the 5 fastest people in the group every single day trying to get a dream map.

Furthermore I want to point out that floor time matters less on actual skill, and more on the map you are given since EOC came out.

I think forming floors with friends is fine, but I think it reflects the group poorly when you have the same 5 people flooring over and over and not inviting or advertising for anyone in the fc.

Just wanted to drop a message here that I've decided to resign my keyer rank.

While I was initially among the first to try to figure everything out post-eoc, I've never really enjoyed the new combat system, and floors are hardly anything but combat now. It was Dungeoneering that kept me from quitting for about a year leading up to eoc, and I'll always love this group for it :) But after eoc, I became fed up with the constant series of tweaks to dg and didn't want to figure it out all over again every week. I also simply don't enjoy the eoc combat. Ports were what kept me online, but that's over too now.

I've moved over to the 2007scape servers. As you may have guesed, this will mean that my activity won't improve, and it's been horrible for a while now. I shouldn't be holding this rank anymore. I'll still be in the group for the occasional floor or two, but not always in the fc. Feel free to pm me if you need someone to fill a floor. No guarantees that I'll come, but I'll try ^_^

Best of luck to the 4 keyers left :)

I don't think recruiting new people is completely the issue, we need to kick people in the bum who are in the chat to join a floor or host one here and there. I know people have other goals, but fc idlers are the ones making the chat stagnant. Just my opinion tho.

@ Biased

It's true, but so many of them are already 120. It's like when a new person comes into the chat and gets really gungho about flooring. I might be working on getting 99 in something. I'm really bad about trying to work on a skill, and getting sidetracked by floors because I feel guilty when its +1 for 10 minutes. I never get anything done so I often simply leave the fc if I want to get any skilling done. The alternative is to be silent in the fc while that floor is going "+1" for 20 minutes because I am really motivated to do a quest, or finish getting a 99.

Also the new people that get really gungho about dunging, and are constantly dungeoneering are frequently the ones that go cold turkey on us when they get 120. You get a little tired being guilt tripped into floors all the time, make new friends, and then they just vanish when they get 120. Not everyone does this, but some certainly do.

EDIT: While I do agree with Biased that it is a problem, I was just pointing out from my viewpoint as to why I might be silent when a floor is forming.

I do not think the inactive people are a problem at all. If we delete them then there will simply be less people in the chat. Four people in the chat...no point starting a floor. Four active people in the chat and five inactive people...there's a chance for the floor. Making the chat emptier will make it not even a fun place to hang out and socialize. People will join other chats to socialize taking them out of our chat and the potential to fill a floor.

Passive aggressively bashing people day after day for being inactive...that is what is ruining the good environment. When I see that, I leave the chat. I will not give them the satisfaction of bullying me into a floor. Work on making it be a fun place to be and people will want to come play with you.

Also, if a new person comes in and sees only three people sitting in the chat they will be a lot more likely to give up on us and leave than if they see ten people whether or not they are willing to do a floor just that second.

We aren't a full time dungeoneering fc and I think it's important to remember that someone might want some time to do other stuff. Although I agree that it would be very nice to have some of the inactive people step up and do some floors to help the group out.

I know were not getting the huge amounts of applications like we once were, but i think that recently, a lot of really nice people with lots of dg skill have joined. I know were not getting 3 floors in at a time like we were a while back, but there are still lots of floors running. I just don't think its something to get overly worried about :p
