What Overseer Lord does is he or she maintains the Kingdom of Varrock Clan Forums with the help of the Royals. He or she will be maintaining the Administration Thread as well as the Events Thread. This is on the non- in game things that goes on with this rank.

On the in-game matters of this rank, you are responsible for also explaining what each SubClan is to new citizens. You are also responsible for maintaining a SubClan when the Subclan leader is also vacant and there is no applicable 2ic. While this is one of your main duties, this is also shared by the Royals as well. There is just as much in game responsibilities as there are out-of-game.

==== As we smile at days gone by ====

I couldn't think of anything witty for the little subtitle, but here we go. A good amount of the officers in Kingdom of Varrock are aware of what is happening. I can only say this: It has been a good time. There have been really fun moments along with some awkward ones. I am stepping down as Queen and Sora Verus is my successor.

While it is no surprise that I am stepping down, the bigger surprise is my departure from the Kingdom. A few people have heard reasons on my part, and it is strange to comprehend, but there are reasons as to why I choose this route rather than stay idly in a clan and I cannot be online to contribute to the clan.

I am fully aware that Kingdom of Varrock is not an elitist clan nor a clan that strives for vacant spots to fill in with new members, but what it boils down to is this: It is not me to do something like that. There is a reason why I choose not to do this and while the Kingdom's structure, I doubt that this would happen, but it is still something that happened all the same.

In one of the clans that I have lead in the past, long ago. A little around '08 or so, I took a month's hiatus to get some IRL things done and I left two officers in charge of the clan while I was gone. When I came back, the clan was split and there were only three or four members left. The clan mates split or left because I was not active as a leader or they chose one of the officers to follow and they, in turn, left the clan with their followers to form new clans. It is always something that has bothered me and while some would say it is not my fault, in a sense it still is as I was the one who promoted them to do so.

Because of this incident, I make it a point to step down from leadership first, promote someone new and then vacate. The other reason for this choice is coming up in the next post.

The second reasoning behind my departure is because this is the same status I was in after I came back from a year-long hiatus from RuneScape and found myself pulled in to Kingdom of Varrock. The last clan before KoV, I disbanded upon a vote and was clanless and left RS for about a year. Then I came back, looked around to see any friends who played again and found one that was in KoV. Which is how I got my involvment in the clan to begin with and the rest is practically history.

There have been a few incidents under my reign and yes, I doubt anyone would be labeled as the perfect leaders for Kingdom of Varrock. Anyone who tells me that Clan Leadership is easy will get slapped in the face with a wet shark by me. It is never easy and there are tough choices that Leader(s) have to make. You have to think what is beneficial for the clan, traditions aside, and what would improve it from here on out.

After all, one person can start a clan, but does not represent the clan. A clan is what the members make it and if they choose to improve upon it or stagnate it.

Now, on this next topic, I'm not speaking as the Queen of the clan, but I'm speaking as Raine or Riz, depends on who people refer to me as.

The topic of RJ, do I like him? No. Do I know him? No, nor do I want to. All that I know is that he has a past within 83 and causing trouble and he is nothing more than someone who likes to instigate trouble to play the victim role. Whatever he has told Zirak Kingdom and Empire of Falador, we are not on his side, as ignoring his existence or endeavors to harass others is not the same as taking his side on matters in World 83.

While he would like things to be settled in game, it is hard for people to do so when he does not even allow leaders of existing clans in a pre-established community to talk on his thread. Half the things he claims as bullying are actions that he has asked for with his actions. Would the trolling action have been a good answer to go to? Probably not.

My best advice to everyone who reads this, is just ignore him if he bothers you. The ignore list is there for a reason and so is the Report button. The spot he put myself and Lali in is something we do not desire, and we are sorry for the rest of the clans of w83 for being dragged in on this.

The ultimatum: "Let me off the banlist and join Kingdom of Varrock or I will cause trouble in World 83". Is not something any leader of any sort of clan have to put up with. As clan leaders you reserve the right to deny applications and outside forces should not dictate to you how to run your clan.

Clans, in my experience, formed out spite, do not last long. So it is best to let it die out.

On another topic, the community changes. It has also changed from "glory days". While tradition is fine and all, there are times when it is necessary to make changes to the status quo. For instance, in 2007, having Achievement Capes was actually an impressive thing and people strived for 99's. Now, you are looking at an overall community obsessed with the best ways to gain experience to go for 120's. Also the entire: "GTFO RS" if you're not good or "elite" enough. While most in KoV joke about it, there are others out there where it is literally life blood.

So, for those who say: "Bring back KoV to the way it was". My answer is the following, you can't. Why is this, you say? The overall community atmosphere has changed a lot since then and you simply can't just bring back the "glory days" of your clan. You can only improve upon it from where it is and make it better within the new community's mindset.

Is it a bad thing to change? Not necessarily, as long as it is change within reason. Not everyone will agree with the change, take the recruitment change, for instance. A few old KoVies did not like this idea at all since they viewed that it would circumvent the form system. Having a forum form and letting people in only through that is fine and all, but just as much forum recruitment happens, a lot of players can be recruited in-game as well. Your average RS player has no need for the forums most opt to not even use them.

This falls on others within the clan to show these members what else there is or update them what is said on these forums and the clan forums as well.

Now, with most of that said, do I have any ill feelings towards the Kingdom of Varrock or did anything cause this choice? No. No one within the clan has sparked this decision for my step down or departure. No matter what rumors will start up, no one chased me away from the Kingdom of Varrock as all this was my decision and mine alone.

I do not want people to follow me or to say there is something going on in the clan administration that made me do this. I can assure you, there is not and again, it has been something that I have been thinking about for a while now.

Well, there are people that may follow me, but they are not beyond the ones expected, since they are known in the clan that are really close to me, them I cannot help and they choose to leave on their own will because of me.

Now, what will happen to the Kingdom when I step down? Nothing. Sora Verus will be Queen and things will be as it has been.

It has been fun from beginning to end and I did enjoy the friendships and the showing of some tough love to some people within the clan. I still respect the clan and do not wish ill will upon it.

Now, where would that leave me? I would be clanless but probably pop on every now and then. Real life takes a toll on us all and we tend to fade into the back seat for the time being. I cannot give an accurate time on when I may be actively playing RuneScape again and if I cannot do this, then it is best for me to step down and you can read the first few posts on my reasons. However...before I forget...

From here on out, I cannot tell you what will happen to the different schedules that I have laid out in the past for clan meetings and such. However, I would also like to remind everyone that events can be started by anyone, however any Wilderness events must be given approval.
