My clan, Kirstunael hosts skilling competitions regularly, running 8th year now. We host it once per month for 1 week, sometimes challenging other clans too for fun. If you want to challenge us, feel free to pm co leaders Kristjano, Urbie, Cyprusgirl.
We have few issues with it though and working on solutions
- Runeclan servers can't handle too many skilling competitions happening while B Xp. Last time when we challenged other clan for full clan vs full clan skillwar we didn't get results even second day after B Xp was over. The servers were still too busy processing all the data.
- Runeclan allows to create competition and add people only before start. But sometimes people can be late signing up or the organizer forgot. It's rare but still, mistakes can happen.
Also we want the option to start xp be taken automatically or be edited by host and it should be clearly displayed that it was added late and edited xp. We are able to reach the xp someone had 2 days ago. As exception it would work.
- If the player changes name while competition, it's been always problematic.
- Many times people asked effigies, xp lamps or bonus xp off but we can't control it so can't make such a rule, currently: all allowed.
Maybe RS skillwars ain't so entertaining to watch as some other E-Sport but... we can make it funnier and nicer to people with good advertisments, live graphs and giving the results faster.
Only thing we can't do is exclude the xp lamps, effigies and bonus xp, only Jagex can do that. Cooperating with Jagex about it is possible. I would like to know if they are neutral, supportive or they got some other plan?
So I'm doing little research, how much your clan is interested in skilling competitions and would you like to help, work with me for it or support some other way?
I'm working at Sportlyzer, it is currently organizing real life sports but I gave them an idea... who not E-Sports too. We can start with little ninja project and test it out.
